I couldn't put orders into Instinet earlier this morning but now I can. Bizarre.

This is a joke. There are still people trading on Instinet - it has not merged with Island for all symbols yet. IB, what are you doing? Really irritating.

I received a bulletin from IB stating that Instinet and Island would be fully merged into INET as of January 1st. I don't find any mention of this on the INET website at www.island.com. Was this bulletin in error? I noticed I couldn't route to Instinet today via IB.

Agreed that the topic seems silly - obviously more money eliminates problems, right? This person's story and other threads suggest other problems arise.

You don't have to worry about the uptick rule for NASDAQ stocks, but for listed stocks you do. I have never noticed a non-firm bid or ask quote from an open ECN in pre-market. What quotes aren't firm in pre or post-market?
