your math is a bit off! ;) you get to sock away 40k per person, which means you 'save' the difference between the roi on the 40k invested before and after taxes. make sense? you are not really saving money unless you are able to grow it tax-free at the same rate or better than you would...

i know that you can setup a c-corp and create a pension plan of any sort. then that pension can loan money out for purchases. but there is no legal way around paying taxes. maybe a way to defer them but this can be a very complicated structure, and thus very expensive and possibly prohibitive.

i agree with nitro here. doesn't matter what computer/laptop you use. the least important and imho highly overrated portion of a trading business these days. i have 2 vaios, with 1 broken (shift) key on one of them. they are great for little things like the interfaces and the infrared...

i am puzzled by your words. maybe i am misunderstanding you but you are saying that you cannot prove/disprove a strategy using computerized approaches? :confused: what 'ideas' for example (if that is generic enough) ??? and how does tradestation, for example, show you how they would work...

yes, i am finding this as well. maybe its best to just optimize every week or so over the last year's data (so each time you optimize you are moving the year data forward by a week), OR by adding a week each time. from the former, it would be like a moving average of optimization parameters...

When given an optimization of data over 1 year and that same data only over the last 3 months, which is better? on one hand, the 1 year data is catching more things that have happened, but on the other hand, the 3 month data might be more 'tuned' to the current market conditions. any tips?

in my short experience as a trader, i have found manual backtesting to be the largest waste of my time ever. wish i would have switched over to automated testing long, long, time ago.... the human mind is terrible at perceiving odds.

i read somewhere that the average balance in a currencies account is somewhere in the hundreds. that is $600, not $600,000. :eek: so, its pretty obvious why all these 'daytraders' are going to currencies....same reason why they go to futures...its vegas for most of them, that's all....
