Am I the only one that sees a correction?

I agree that a correction is most likely forthcoming, in fact I think that it has already begun. I think that some of the techs, such as NVDA and INTC have begun to roll over.

    Securing your trading workstation

Hello all, been thinking a bit about this lately, and to quote myself from another thread in hardware: The thing that amazes me at times is the fact that a very large portion of trading at the individual level is being done on the Windows platform, which is not exactly the most secure...

Too good to be true.....this bull market.

Exactly, though of course a number of stocks have had nice upwards moves over the past few weeks. This reminds me of an article that I'm reading for my spring session class - "Bubbles, Human Judgement, and Expert Opinion" by Robert J. Shiller, published in 2002 (his article was partly derived...

Too good to be true.....this bull market.

I'll go on record as saying that I'm quite skeptical that we will see a continued rally, more likely we will see a downwards correction over the next couple of months until mid to late August. Keep in mind that I primarily focus on tech stocks, but take a look at a chart for INTC or NVDA. In...

    Hunting & gathering mindsets

I agree a little bit with the hunter analogy, in the sense that generally speaking a person has two options in life (assuming that they aren't already wealthy at birth) - work for someone else, or take the risk of working for themselves.

Will You be Trading More Efficiently & Profitably on an Intel-based Apple Computer?

The thing that amazes me at times is the fact that a very large portion of trading at the individual level is being done on the Windows platform, which is not exactly the most secure platform out there. I was thinking a bit today about how I would ideally go about taking care of this issue...

    Canadian Brokerages Rip Customers off

Couldn't agree more, Canadian brokers generally speaking stink compared to US brokers. It is starting to improve with discount brokers such as Trade Freedom and Questrade (can trade $10-$15/transaction compared to $27-$30), as well as IB Canada. That said, I'm personally hoping that...

    eSignal on Mac/Intel

True, but hopefully what we will see once the new Intel-based Macs launch will be a new version of Microsoft's Virtual PC software that will run Windows apps at nearly full speed. The current emulation slowdown is primarily due to having to convert everything from x86 to PowerPC code. If this...

    What is the "market"?

My feelings exactly. I personally find it kind of disappointing that the university I'm attending doesn't offer a class that explores the "alternative" side of investing/trading. Basically any courses that deal with investments either deal with pricing bonds/options/futures or cover generic...

    What is the "market"?

Without resorting to quoting some sort of textbook definition, I think you have come up with a pretty good summary of what a market is. Basically a market is a place where people/entities meet in order to buy/sell goods, services, etc. As for your statement that "most investors/traders...

Frequency of discussing wins/losses with spouse/partner

I certainly hope that you are wrong, and believe me, I won't be hopping into that particular venture (marriage) unless I'm sure that she will be able to support me (emotionally) in the things that I want to do with my life. If she can't handle the fact that I want to be financially...

Frequency of discussing wins/losses with spouse/partner

I'm in a long term relationship with a woman that is quite likely to end up becoming my wife, been doing a bit of trading over the past year with a small account to learn, won't be able to tackle seriously until university is done next spring. At this point I am already preparing her for the...

COI down 55% on proposed stock offering....somethin up??

COI stock sucks period IMO, I've been watching it on and off since it did the big run up in early December '04.

is google really worth $300-350 a share?

You know, I just finished reading "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" again, and I really like the "path of least resistance" phrase, I think it's a very intuitive way of stating that a stock is usually more likely to move in one direction than another.

    Taking Profits/Living or Trading?

Choped your post up a bit, but I agree completely. I'm about a year away from graduating from University, and I currently work at a job that will provide me with a great deal of flexibility in terms of hours of work. For example, due to my timezone I could work full-time and only miss the...

    Tasr!!

I'm still waiting to see TASR's detailed (and delayed) financial statements for the quarter ending March 2005. I also have some rather strong suspicions that TASR will be posting a loss for Q2, based on their miniscule profit for Q1. Going to be interesting to see what happens once the poop...

Is it possible to day trade $20 million+

I would think that someone swinging that kind of buying power in equities would be forced to either trade hugely liquid issues (such as the QQQQs), or would be focused on a basket trading approach in order to cover sector moves (someone already more or less mentioned this).
