    Anyone else playing TMTA today?

I'm in a pretty stress free situation, having entered at $0.96 for a position trade. Didn't expect it to work out so well so soon. I'm really wondering where are things going to go from here though. Basically this a company moving from being more or less valued as a bankruptcy candidate to...

    Anyone else playing TMTA today?

Wow, I really wasn't expecting the big upwards move today (25%), was instead expecting things to consolidate for a bit around $1.30 or so after the previous gap-up, or possible even retrace a bit lower. Yikes!

    For Directional traders

Please don't take this as tooting my own horn (well, maybe I am a little hehe), but TMTA has been a rather nice little ride thus far (had mentioned it earlier in this thread).

    100% Consumption....Zero Savings....

Simple - many people will lose the incentive to do so. Tell me - would you continue to pay a $500K mortgage for the next 20 years on a property that is now only worth $300K on the market? What happens if you need/want to sell (for example, being transferred to another city for work)? What...

Good Read on the Real Estate Mania

The problem partly lies in that even mortgages with properly amortizing payments are subject to interest rate increases over time, just a question of when their current term comes up for renewal.

    To Apple Computer...

Sorry, Yonah is the codename for Intel's next generation of mobile CPUs (current gen was codenamed Sonoma). Most Yonah models will be dual-core. Apple is going to be switching to Intel processors beginning sometime in 1st half of 2006, current speculation is that Apple is highly likely to...

    To Apple Computer...

Give it a few more months and you'll likely be able to buy a Yonah-based Powerbook that is capable of running whichever charting apps you desire at nearly full speed in a VirtualPC window.

    Anyone else playing TMTA today?

Interesting posts. A couple of additional details that are worth mentioning are that TMTA is doing some sort of engineering work for Microsoft at this time, as well as Sony. The Sony contract is the bulk of the current engineering work, I think the conference call mentioned something like...

    Anyone else playing TMTA today?

I'm holding a long position that I bought before earnings, going to give this some time to develop. As for pulling back, it's pulled back a bit since the open, but is actually up since yesterday's AH trading (last trade was around $1.30). Btw, TMTA is doing a presentation today at Moors &...

    How to play a gap-up

I see what you mean, and it makes sense. Right now I've thought quite a bit about where TMTA is headed tomorrow, and the best answer I've come up with is: "I don't know". About the best I could say would be that I think it has a higher probability of continuing to trend upwards than it...

    GOOG Ready to Retrace ?

I agree with the original poster, I think that GOOG is due for a retracement. The other important thing to consider is that it's likely to drop steeply at some point - with such a high P/E justified by high growth, at some point GOOG is going to seriously disappoint the street.

Calculating Sharpe ratio for intraday futures strategy?

Two things. First, to supplement the previous post, here is the formula for Sharpe's Measure, straight out of a textbook: (Rp - Rf)/Std. Dev of P Rp = average portfolio return Rf = average risk free freturn The above two are divided by the standard deviation of the returns for the...

    How to play a gap-up

Very small position (I'm a uni student, been trading for about a year with a small account for practical learning purposes). Bought in at $0.96, so I think that I'm quite comfortable in seeing how this plays out over the next couple of months. I'm going to be very, very interested to see how...

    How to play a gap-up

Yup, read over the earnings report, listened to latter part of the conference call, going to listen to the first half of the conference call later tonight. The price activity of the stock is what initially attracted me (there was a big ramp up on the day that cashflow positive was...

    How to play a gap-up

Per this thread (http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52722&perpage=6&pagenumber=11), currently holding a long position TMTA. My intention isn't to get into a pump vs. bash thread over TMTA, but I am curious to hear from some traders on the forum as to how they would...

    fractals

I saw that book at the store the other day, might give it a shot. Some of the math is likely to be over my head, but it looks like he spends time talking about why certain types of math aren't adequate to analyze the markets, then gets into fractals. Overall, is it worth the read?

    For Directional traders

Hello, Regarding the brokerage bit, I'm a uni student, only trading with a small account for my own practical learning purposes, I'll be looking at alternatives for brokers once I have more capital. My reason for opening a long position in TMTA is based both on fundamentals and technicals...

DOTM (Deep Out of The Money) Options

This doesn't make sense to me. My understanding of options is that someone initially sells (writes) a put/call, which causes open interest to increase by 1. The option is then offered on the market (or sold at the bid to a MM), someone else can then come along and purchase at the ask (or put...

Schiller - Irrational Exuberance (2nd Edition)...

...anyone read this? I read a short paper by Schiller as part of a financial planning class that I took this spring, and I personally found that the whole "behavioural finance" theories are much more interesting/valid than the usual finance textbook material (i.e. efficient market hypothesis...
