Half way through life and not close to being consistent

gamblingman, If you were able to build up a profit, I don't think you need to drastically change anything. The beauty of options is that for a few bucks you can hedge so that when we get these one way markets you may not make a profit but you aren't losing. Good luck today!

If you want to be successful, you do whatever it takes.

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

Hang on gamblingman! It is darkest before the dawn. In your honor I have decided not to change my underwear until we get a down day. Last time it only took 3 trading days. :D

    Missing human contact

Sorry about making an assumption. That is probably a sign that I need more human contact so I don't assume everyone is just like me.

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

Unfortunately it is from experience watching a market move one way while my neg. gamma makes it worse and worse. With a market like this you know a retracement is coming you just don't know when! If you think the market can't go up any more just pull up a 3yr weekly chart (minimize the entire...

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

I know exactly where you are coming from. A lot of my trades have sold options below the market and I am often seeing my neg delta build up when we have moves up. I think it is harder with the grind up, at least with the sharp down moves it happens fast and you don't have much time to think...

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

If you are an options trader there are plenty of ways to hedge your bets. You gotta learn to trade the one way markets (or sit them out). I am assuming you are sitting on neg delta with a nice juicy T+0 line below the market. Your P&L graph probably is a work of art if we would just come...

    Missing human contact

Get a wife/ girlfriend. You can't shut them up and they assume that "working" out of the house means you are available to listen to every one of their stories about their friends and all their problems. After years of this you will pray for the solitude you once had and you will learn to...

What is the right bullish strategy under high IV?

I believe it's 52 wk iv low is around 17% isn't it. I wouldn't compare it to other blue chips. You might want to wait until after the june 9 split. That might change who is investing in AAPL, I know a lot of option traders treat it like another index due to it's high price and attractive...

Can I get one of you to verify my 600% Return over One Month?

My calculator does even have enough digits to calculate my return. I have hired two software designers to come up with software robust enough to handle my massive returns.

Can I get one of you to verify my 600% Return over One Month?

Post account login info and password and we will verify for you at no charge. Doubt we will need it but if you could add the social security number that would be great.

    Hedging with puts - Confused

I think what you are missing is the time value of the atm option and the fact that the delta of the put you buy will change as the price moves (this is the gamma). As the stock drops, the same put you bought might change in delta from .50 to .75 . Example: 100 shares of SPY at 192 and the 192...

    Hedging with puts - Confused

There is time value in your put bought. So that put you bought atm has to overcome this value paid until it becomes deep enough in the money to move 1 for 1 with the stock. As an example if you have a stock at 50 with a 50 put strike atm costing 2, if the stock drops to 49 the put may be worth...

They simply price fix to capture profit from purchased options

Holy cow anal rapage ?? That sounds awful. I trade options and I have no clue how they would go about fixing the price without creating an arb opportunity on the other side. Since the market makers are matching up prices to even out their book, who is doing this fixing? Are you saying that...

    Fills on Weeklys

SPY fills are pretty good. The further otm later in the week have lower volume so you might have to pay the natural but the spread is only 1-2 cts. wide. I know a lot of people don't like them but I have pretty good success on the weekly SPX options. Sometimes you do have to cave a little bit...

    Good Malware Spyware Software

+1 on the Malwarebytes. They have a free version but I ended up buying it on one of my machines and I have never had a problem. .

    My Moment of Truth

Unfortunately, just having the passion to trade full time isn't enough. Like you, I sit through a daily grind wishing I could just quit and be the fulltime trader I want to be. Best advice I can give you (and I am not an expert by any means) is to modify your trading so you can stick with it...

*** RED ALERT *** Black Friday

Well since the market closes within the hour can you explain what you mean by "crash"? Maybe we are not on the same page.

    start with a blank canvas

That makes a lot of sense. In the past I kept a p&f chart by hand, it helped me get a feel for how long it was taking to fill in another block vs. just glancing at a historical chart that was already completed. You could almost get a sense of the shift of momentum.

    start with a blank canvas

On the NDX chart, what made you mention the drop to the 496-80 vs the nip in between the 535 ledge and the 496-80 one? I am trying to figure out what makes a valid nip/ledge/cleavage that support would hold. Sorry for the basic question, I haven't traded profile before.
