    why pay anything?

A surgeon cannot operate with his bare hands, without nurses, without electricity, without other doctors, without equipment costing $millions in some cases. Same thing in trading. It's not just the trader/brain, it's the TOTAL package. Your argument makes sense only if you expect trading to...

    why pay anything?

Also, it really depend on one's particular needs. For example, in my case, I use several inexpensive "tools" as opposed to 1 pricey tool. I have some datafeeds where I pay $25/mo. Others, in the $200/mo range. They all have a purpose and if there is absolutely no difference, then of course I...

    Joe Krutsinger: System Developer

His stuff worked...back in the days when a dart thrown at the "Wall Street Journal" would've done as well. Does that answer your quest? Very, very few can design systems that worked before *and* work now. Certainly not the kind that produce the results you're after! As for value, sometimes...

Economic impact of possible attack on Iran

Who would US use for soldiers? Senior citizens? Bring back the other Vietnam vets not yet in Iraq?

    housing crash

Recently, I was told that some lenders are making RE loans to people with *very* low credit scores. But to get these borrowers somehow qualified or perhaps to reduce the risk, they require a "pool" of people with good credit to (somehow, I don't have all the details) guarantee/cosign on these...

What's your problem? Please keep negative garbage to yourself. I want to see people post their setups without being insulted by the likes of you.

    Toughest trade in the world: S & P 500?

No it's not, if you're willing to accept shitty returns.

Real Estate is dying? Investment-wise what is the next Asset Class Du Jour?

Getting off topic here a bit, I see the latest generation of immigrants as *very* different from previous generations. Go to many community colleges and you'll see what I mean. Many are studying with tuition paid by your tax dollars. Others are receiving free housing for 3-4 years (entire...

Real Estate is dying? Investment-wise what is the next Asset Class Du Jour?

What darkhorse appears to be saying is that a country can compete on the world stage and succeed provided it can supply technological goods/services at least comparable to the amount it imports. A house, no matter how new/good, does not enter the equation unless you want to trade it and have...

Real Estate is dying? Investment-wise what is the next Asset Class Du Jour?

Hey, if you're so long-term as you claim, what are you doing in what is essentially a daytrader's forum? The 2 don't mix very well. Maybe you could join a Warren Buffet type forum and discuss buy and hold there.

Real Estate is dying? Investment-wise what is the next Asset Class Du Jour?

No, I'm not lacking in any dept., thank you. Your comment of "I'm in it for the long term" brought out many memories of cycles gone by. In stocks, the "smart money" was also "long term" at the height of the bubble. FYI, I've been in/owned/managed RE since '82 so I've been through a few...

Real Estate is dying? Investment-wise what is the next Asset Class Du Jour?

Listen to OldTrader because you're really DUMB money. DUMB money talks the way you're talking when all of a sudden some schmuck luckily rides a bubble wave like that currently in RE. Just wait until rental vacancies hit you in the ass (I've seen them real BAD) and it takes months to rent...

How long will it take to turn a $5,000 account into $100,000?

What a sorry bunch of schmucks to even think you can turn $5K into $100K in today's market! Yeah, you can also win $300million playing the lottery but, so what? The chances of that happening are very, very close to zero.

Go on! The same guy also told you, you'd be in the same league with some hard work (of course) in no time! Maybe 10 million pennies I might believe.

    MedVed QuoteTracker Software

I've installed it on 2 computers in the past. Ended up removing the program from both because the CPU usage kept going to 50-100%. Both computers have 512mb of memory. The fans were noticeably louder as a result. I couldn't figure out why this happened. It would probably be useful for backup...

    Quadriga Superfund - Managed Futures

Ahh, But there's your mistake. Which fund are you in, where you were invested in the fund's first year of operation? Virtually no one is. Yet these funds use those numbers to advertise their superb performance (which I'm not denying). The point here is that when the majority of "investors"...

    Quadriga Superfund - Managed Futures

Here’s a performance track record of a very hypothetical fund with a super performance and assets doubling every year. Returns of 30% a year for the fund's 8 years look great. Then it has a first loss equal to its average yearly performance and look at the results! 1997 Assets Under...

Why trade QQQ and SPY vs Emini S&P and mini nasdaq?

qqq, spy allows some traders to scale into/out of trades in a manner that is more comfortable for them while pehaps controlling risk, drawdowns in a smoother way. I'm sure there are other strategies too, where they're better suited. For effeciency, yes the futures are better.
