Why don't they outsource the CEO jobs as well. I an sure Indians are just as good at back dating share options? Just think if they outsource everything, everyone in the US can retire while the indian and chinese do all the work.

    Traders, let's have a discussion.

The problem with "insider" information is knowing how the market will react to that information. I may know that a companies results will be worse than expected. So I short the stock. The news hits the market and guess what the stock go's up! Why because, blah blah blah the guidance blah blah...

    Traders, let's have a discussion.

The hypothesis of efficient markets is badly specified as its impossible to falsify. To my mind its utterly pointless.

I think you missed my point when I said big guys I meant institutions, I know plenty of traders like you describe. By the way I don't validate myself by looking at others.

The disadvantage of the retail trader

I can't agree, the so called big boys can't trade worth a damn. Its not their money so they don't care. How many retail traders have been hurt in the sub-prime mess. None, everyone who was hurt were so called hedge funds and banks. Why do you think they bought that junk, because they knew...

    IB security token Batteries

It occurred to me, that what would I do if the batteries in the security token went dead. So I thought I would buy a spare pair. So I open the token, and lo and behold the screws holding the batteries are so tight you can't unscrew them. On the same topic what do you do if the damn thing...

If there's a buyer for every seller, why isn't there a bull for every bear ?

Think about it, the market is nett long. Basically only a small percentage of the market cap is short. Of course I am talking of stocks not futures. If the market goes up the only people who suffer are the shorts and those who have no exposure. Half the bears are people who own no...

They not trying to shore up the market, these moves are crazy either you had straddles before the moves or I don't believe anyone is making cash whether they are long or short. Personally I am surviving not down but not up.

this has got to be deadly to shorts

It sure sucks to see a 350 pt plunge evaporate and then take a 200 plus smack the next day. My heart goes out too any short that got caught in that. My personnel feeling is this market has been very hard.
