    The first 30 minutes

I trade all day long. I do my least amount of trading in the opening 15 minutes. The best action today was the OSX. That didn't materialize until after 11am. Good opportunites happen all day long, and at anytime of the year. As last month showed.

I made this trade and why

I'm starting this thread so that we can all learn what trades work and those that don't. Rules of this thread. POST the trade you made (entry and exit), what you saw to make you enter and exit the position, and any other insight regarding the trade. This thread should be a great...

    why no options on SPY

It isn't helpful to me that there are options on SPX. For the purposes of covered call writing in a brokerage account. I think my broker will want to charge me margin on any naked SPX calls i write even though i may own the SPY as a hedge.

    million dollar system.

I look at the 5 minute moving avg. I think it is a simple average of the last 20 5 minute intervals. Anything faster than that creates too many wipsaws for me. It seems that if you combine simple trend analysis with basic tape reading you get pretty good results. You have to be...

    million dollar system.

Can it be this simple? Only buy stocks that have ascending short term moving average and are above the average. And vice versa, shorting stocks that are below decling moving averages. I have had huge success so far this year and am up 7 figures day trading. I however had a huge blow up on...

Oil services Sector, how to trade

A few months ago the sector recieved an upgrade when the Index was 110. Today the index closed at 70. These stocks have been falling 5% a day. What happened? Did anything fundamental change? Oil prices have stayed near the highs for the year. Natural gas prices have come down some. But...

    Worldco financial troubles

I heard Worldco is having financial troubles and is no longer allowing traders to hold overnight positions. Are they going under? Anyone have any info on this.

    March Trading Journals

i had no semi trades yesterday either. Biggest move in the index in probably a year and i was not involved. My only premarket order was to buy 5000 shares of TER limit $34.10 . It opened at $34.25 and never looked back, closed at 37.5. My order of course was not filled. I knew it...

    February Trading Journals

Here are some insights into my trading. Some here have been critical of me for not giving descriptions of my trading. I trade primarily home builders, oil service, and semis. Add to that list news stocks such as tyco last week and the utilities group. I think it has helped me to focus on a...

    February Trading Journals

At the end of the day on friday i was shocked to find myself #1 on the firms top 30 list. (this was as of 3:30pm so i could have been bumped by the close). I'm quite proud of this accomplishment having only been trading at the firm for 3 months. I finished the day up 11,100 after...

    December Trading Journals

86% days gross positive is about as good as it gets hitman. You are a great trader. Crank up your size a little in 2002 and you should be able to net $200,000. I finished december up $17,000 net. Somewhat of a dissapointment because i was up $24,000 after the 9th day of the month. I had...

    December Trading Journals

I began trading friday on the heels of a 10 day winning streak. Unbelievably i made $8900 thursday and found myself up $24k net for the pay period. Friday being the last day of the pay period, it would have been nice to play it ultra conservative. However, i was so blinded with my success of...

    November Trading Journals

My 14th day at Worldco was a breakthrough day. Everything i did went right and i managed to hold on to my winners. I made 3500 gross, 3100 after commissions. This scored 14th of the firms top 30 list for the day. An amazing game considering i only had 600 share positions. I caught the...

    November Trading Journals

Hitman, thanks for the advice. Makes sense to ask for the moon. I asked for a 2'nd monitor and got that right away. I blew some trades my first week because i couldn't keep everything organized on one screen. That is nearly impossible. I will work on getting my commissions lowered...

    November Trading Journals

Right now i'm paying 1.5 cents/share and $5 ticket charge. That will approach 1 cent/share and no ticket charge as i become more seasoned. Ticket charges take a big bite when you are just starting/training with a few hundred shares. My limit is now 600 shares so it will be less of a...

    November Trading Journals

HItman, i read most of your posts. And it seems that you are consistently gross positive. You should start going in with more size. Don't be afraid, you always win it seems. keep up good work. Well, i finished my 12th trading day at Worldco. Boca Raton office. I'm happy to say i'm now...

    Only trade volatile stocks

I guess my point is, if you can consistently trade for a profit. Why not make 5% a day on a volatile stock rather than 2% a day on nonvolatile stocks. The counter to this point is that your drawdown will be larger on more volatile stocks. Perhaps the comment that it doesn't matter what...

    Only trade volatile stocks

I'm starting this thread, because i'm confused why anyone would bother to trade boring stocks that are not likely to move more than 2 or 3% at the most. I know many people only trade NYSE stocks or grind stocks for dimes and quarters. Why do this when there are bigger fish to catch? Seems...
