    Zippo institutional activity

I've always thought that day traders feed on those who are making decisions based on a longer time frame. "REAL" buyers and sellers in a name. There are none of these right now. Just arbs bouncing shares off one another.

    Zippo institutional activity

The agony continues. I hold posiitons all day hoping that they will move out of their 25 cent range (and these are $50-$75 NYSE stocks) and they don't. I short stocks that are clearly weak, but they just don't move down much, or up for that matter. All i can say is that it will continue to...

    VXGN On Monday

I assume that no one would have excercised these since the stock went out at $13 on friday. Still kind of nervous cuz the stock could open at $5 if the news is bad. Will feel better when i get the assignment info on monday.

    bullet construction

I mean how does the firm who constructs the bullet able to make a profit when they only get 2 cents a share from the trader who buys the bullet for the day. Who are the counter parties in this transaction

    bullet construction

So how can someone create a bullet for $.02/share and make money. Obviously if i wanted to create my own bullet for the day it would cost me more than $.02/share. Because of spreads on options transactions.

    Worldcos new high in sadness

I expect to get mine by early march. I think last year they didn't come until end of march. There was a memo saying that this year they would get them out earlier.

how to trade a slow bleed

The problem lies in that it is very hard (for me) to know when it will be a good day for day trading. Clearly my biggest mistake this year has been to make too many trades in situations where there isn't anything really going on. Mainly that is because there has been SO VERY LITTLE going on...

how to trade a slow bleed

I day trade NYSE stocks. Slow bleed days like friday are very tough for stock traders. There is no volume/moves in key names to read on. No sectors are really in play. At any point in time there is really no reason to jump in or jump out. The only hope is to take an initial...

What do you do when you take a big hit in the markets?

I'm the most profitable trader that i know, but i still have huge anxiety whenever i'm in the midst of a drawdown. Will i ever get back to my previous high? Do i know what i'm doing? Will i continue to lose everything that i made the previous year? I suffered only my second losing month as...

    Anyone know anything about ETG?

I interviewed with ETG in atlanta and they would not hire me. Lol, i went somewhere else and made 7 figures in first year. For this reason i support firms that give everyone a chance. How can one possibly know who will make a good trader. It is impossible to know.

*I want to start now* Help Me with something Please

If your passion is trading, what the hell are you doing on the canadian police force? 30k capital is not enough to make a living. You need to join a prop firm and learn to trade. Then use their unlimited capital to make your millions. If you want to be a successful trader, you need to...

daytraders feed on long term traders

I beilieve that the best opportunity for daytrading (not scalping) a stock is when long term holders of the stock are taking action. I am speaking of the day trader who is trying to catch a move (40 cents+). I believe that the lion share of trading in most stocks on most days are just day...

What's a good and rare trading book?

Hope i got his name right, maybe it is sam weinstein. I still think this is the best book on how markets act. I was a loser trader for many years, this book helped me out big time. Its so damn simple too. Basically a stock goes down, till it don't go down no more. Then it goes sideways...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

Does the don's openings still work if you are doing 5k+ size open orders. i havn't tried the strategy very much.... One day i got a good fill on a 5k order on AIG (very large cap), but for the most part it seemed that i rarely got fills on mid caps doing 5k size. So i basically lost interest...

    volatitliy poor last few days

It hasn't been good day trading lately. Volatility in the futures has dried up. VIX has fallen to 26. The year started off with some nice moves (most of which i misplayed) but the last 3 days has been miserable. Most of my sectors that i trade have been untradeable if you miss the 1'st...

know who you are buying from

My parents bought me a few trading books for christmas. I skimmed through hundreds of pages, and most of the info didn't seem very helpful. Howerver this stood out. One book talked about knowing who you are trading with. When you are buying, someone is selling. I thought about this...

    Simple Vix Question

I believe that VIX relates to the implied volatilitiy (expected volatility) of the s&p 100 index options. So the volatility of the dot com stocks wasn't effecting the vix. The vix mesures implied volaitliy of the 100 largest stocks, the GE's IBM's Xons Wmts ect. The large caps weren't...

Will 2003 be as good as 2002?

Its funny to read so many posts about how "poor" the day trading environment has become. In my opinion it has never been better. It is unlikely that we will see a year as volatile as 2002. Daily ranges on the SP500 have been over 15 points for the past 6 months and the VIX over 30...

    Is this standard trading practice?

Or else you could accidently sell your shares twice if you didn't later cancel your stop order after selling the shares. This would result in a short sale violation. (selling shares you don't own without specifiying that it is a short sale).

    Good traders

Seems obvious. Someone who can make money and not lose it in the markets.
