    Trading grains

I think you can try to call fcstone. If you put up enough $ they can get your orders into the booth on the floor as opposed to an order desk who then cals the booth. I spoke yesterday with 5perside and they have a java app for order entry much like eminis BUT it it still handled by the pit...

    NYSE specialist. not all bad

Tell that to the guy who just bought 1000 shares at 30.01 coz he thought there would be good support at figure. specially the 30 since it is not only a round number but a factor of 10. Good trade. I wish I had my envelope program on.

Is day trade options really viable?

It is hard enough nowadays to day-trade the underlying since the range is not very good lately, doing it in options is twice as hard. Imagine the edge loss. 5-10 cents to get in then another to get out, coupled with the delta. You have to be right about the underlying movement at least 50 cents...

    Bond Futures

I called the CBOT and they told me there are a lot of bonds deliverable against the futures and I can get it at a bloomberg terminal. Any other cheaper alternatives? Do any Bond futures traders even take the cash into consideration when scalping the futures or do you guys just keyoff of the...

    Trading the Currencies

Check out my earlier post about the PIP spread of these spot brokers. HUGE. Would you play a game where to get in you will have to pay $40 and to get out another 40$? $40 is the pip value of a 4 pip spread of EUR spot, I don't know the others. And don't think that you can bid their bid and...

    Bond Futures

Stock traders use the premium/discount of the SP cash (SPX) vs. Spoo future to gauge the short term direction of market. I've read that in interest rate futures such as the 10 yr note, 5 year note the cash is based on a "virtual" 6% instrument. Is there a single symbol for that intrument...

    Trading the Currencies

Someone asked why anyone would trade futures and not sopt forex. With futures you can buy on bid/sell on offer softening the vig a little bit. With spot forex you are forced to buy offer and sell bid so right of the bat you are down $30-50$ depending on contract size. Am I right?

    Options on futures

What I don't understand is how unsuccesfull the SP emini options are compared to it's pit traded sibling-SP options, considering that a lot of the volume has migrated from the SP pit to the E mini the past 3 years. I was on the floor when I shook the hands of Elsie the cow when they introduced...

    Spread cheart

Can anyone kindly recommend a system which can plot spreads in an OHLC format. Most systems plot spread & ratio charts as a singlemeandering line. My current system enables me to create a custom stock eg: WMT - TGT called WMTTGT Pair and it then plots the OHLC of the spread for that interval...

Is DayTrading Stocks Even Worth it Anymore?

I think a lot of traders a coming to the conclusion that DT stocks is not worth it anymore due to the decreased ranges. I am sure that is one of the reason people are migrating to the mini contracts. Has to do with the VIG. Read Neidehoffers discussion about it in his edu of specualtor book...

floating a trial balloon concerning pdtr regulation

Can anyone shed light on this dilemma re: the PDt rule and options? If I have $25,000 in an acct and I buy a $2000 spread that appreciates to $2500 at day's end. My cash would be $23K but my net liquidating value would be $25,500. Would I be under margined bec my cash is now below $25 even...

    Options on futures brokers

So no one specially from the FCM community can offer a good explanation why options on futures should be more expensive by a factor of about 10 vs. stock options. no arguments about futures are better blah blah hence our commish are 10 times greater....Hmm.. not even a feeble attempt? Truly...

    Options on futures brokers

To buy a 1 lot of equity options, the comm is around $1.5, to buy a 1 lot in the grains, crude, metals the FCM's charge $15 maybe a little less for active traders. leasing a hot car ? or wish you didn't ??

rs7. You pretty much have the essence of what a lease is. You asked why leasing co. would jack up the residual value more than the market rate. since leasing is a relatively new phenom, the mathematicians /statisticians/actuaries really don't have a lot of reliable historical data to base their...
