    Anyonw Ever Use TC2000??

Unfortunately, I've used alot of retail software in my trading, from $20 per month to $200 per month and beyond. I think I've learned more about software than trading (how sad). TC2000 is a very good, basic package for charting and scanning on EOD data. I still have it in my stable - the...

Newbie Question: What does this mean?

I think what you're seeing are people posting results on the Opening Order strategy threads here on ET. There's been multiple threads on this strategy posted by Don Bright. They may be letting each other know how many of their opening orders were filled (26 out of 30?, 100?, 1000?) and they...

TC2000 Question about BOP, TSV and Money Stream

I've used TC2000 off and on for about 6 years (religiously for about 3). I saw some value to divergences in TSV and MoneyStream versus price. The divergences were okay, but you could get similar divergences from other indicators. I never saw a use for BOP, maybe it worked pre-bubble. The...

    RIA Information

If you'll be advising on more than $25M now or in the near future than you must be registered with the SEC. Otherwise, most states have their own laws regarding RIA's. Check your state goverment's web site. Look for something along the lines of "State Securities Board" or do a search on RIA...

    401k

Are you still employed with the company providing the 401(k)? If so, I don't believe you can roll it anywhere unless they have a self-directed option with the plan. Some do offer such a feature (the majority don't), and if they do it will likely not be highly publicized. You'll need to dig into...

    Need Help

Steve, While you're here.. Did the bug with GTC bracket orders get fixed? It was an issue awhile back in that your bracket orders (activated on the fill initiating the position) were only good for that first day, even though they were marked GTC. It caused me a bit of a problem with my...

    A story for you..

I've got a story for you, Ags.. Back in my high school days I played football (American). We had a position called "gator-bait" running back. For those of you not familiar with the term, I'm referring to a person unfortunate enough to be picked by the coach to play running back when the first...

    IB bracket order

Take a look at the attaced screenshot.. The upper set of orders is using a limit order, which goes live on Globex (Green). The latter set uses a stop limit, which you can see is standing by. This should work.

Correctly hedging yourself while taking overnights

I assume you're talking about buying the hedge in an alternate account with a backup broker? Takes a lot of spare margin to buy 2500 shares of SPY. The e-mini S&P future contract might give you the market risk hedge you need for a lot less money.

    Calculating end of day volume

Try First Alert (www.neovest.com). It could adjust for the fact volume is not evenly distributed throughout the trading day. I had good luck trading stocks who at 10am looked to be on pace for 3x or greater volume. Then the mutual funds either got smarter or quit buying as much.

    Tc2000

I've used TC2000 for years. It is excellent for the price - about $30 a month. I use it for EOD swing trading, primarily scanning to cull the number of stocks deserving a look. I upgraded to TCNet for awhile, and then dropped back down. If the scans had worked in real-time I might have kept...

How to use Excel to Analyse my trades?

I've done a lot of trade analysis in Excel. I especially like the auto-filter tool, particularly if you have more than one strategy and like to do comparisons. I'd go with richk's suggestions from earlier, but perhaps: 1) Go with your dates in mm/dd/yy format (in case you ever want to sort...

$87 Billion Dollars --- Time to Buy Haliburton

I've met one the guys who led the team that put out the fires in this last Iraq war. He put on a talk here for fellow oil-field types a couple of months ago on how they did it. In late 2002 the military came to two guys here in Houston, from two different companies (neither was Halliburton by...

I do position/swing trading - holding 2-30 days or so.

    stop limit order

I believe most brokers handle stops for you on Nasdaq stocks. I use IB, and they hold the stop order on their server and execute it once conditions trigger it. I only use their "SMART" routing so I don't know if specific routing to an ECN has an effect. Check with your broker.

    Question about TC 2000

Cost - about $30 per month; a little cheaper if you signup for a year, and again a bit more if you signup at one of their seminars. Frequency of Data - EOD primarily, but you can download at anytime during the day and get 20 minute delayed data. You can then run your scans on that data...

    Question about TC 2000

I've used TC2000 for about 5 years. No, they don't have a crosshair tool that shows the prices as you glide over them. I wish they did. If you hit the "." key once you get a vertical bar, which will show the selected bar's prices in the information row at the top. In the latest version...

Best financial publications for a newbie trader

If you want to be a trader don't read the financial press. I'm only half-joking. If I were you I would pick an index and couple of stocks that interest you and follow them closely. Learn from watching. Then, in your spare time, scan through Barron's on the weekend, but try not to form...
