    Hedge Funds...Leverage Works Both Ways

Not really. How is the alleged 100-billion-dollars of speculative money spread out in the energies? Is it 100% long? Is it 50% long & 50% short? Is it all in cash? How much is it leveraged? At most, it'll only be a teeny-tiny crisis if anymore meltdowns occur. Stay tuned.

    natural gas direction

SCRIABINOP23--------Congratulations! You sold the top in the market 6 times so far. Remember, THE MARKET reigns supreme in the end, not fundamentals.

    How not to force trades?

You answered your own question. You have to be focused on executing your "system" based upon the rules that you, yourself, created instead of merely craving to have an open-position on. Otherwise, randomly take a flyer in the eMini-S&P and take a one-tick profit as soon as you possibly can.

    European Markets as Global Leaders?

Not really. (1) Europe still has to sell their goods to the US in order to remain profitable. (2) European stocks have probably benfited from foreign buying in order to outperform other markets. (3) Europe has had an increasing percentage of public participation which gets more buying power in...

They're not "mispriced". Nobody is giving away free-money in those contracts.

Structure of HF Performance fees and Management fees

With bigger incentive fees, you want to be sure that you're not investing with people who are willing to get reckless and "swing for the fences right away" and be willing to sacrifice their investors' money in the process if things don't go well. If wealthy people lose money that way, it won't...

Why thinking in money term is bad?

Is the $2,000 figure a specific percentage of your account or a "critical price" on the charts? Is it a random choice?

Whats wrong with Japan's banking system?

During bear markets, all of the fraud, waste, corruption and garbage get exposed. It can take years to clean it up before the next big bull market can take place.

The Magic Of Stock Index Futures

Not really. "Weak inflows" were met with "weak outflows". The buyers were still more aggressive in their bidding.

Who creates activity/noise and what counters it

Not really. An alternative explanation is that institutional investors are doing more indexation-type trading instead of individual stock-picking. They trade different baskets of stocks on each order ticket instead of a single security. Don't worry. TOBOR, HAL, R2D2 and CYBERDYNE-3000 aren't...

    Should hedge funds be regulated?

eagle488-----Nick Leeson worked at Barings Bank, not at Barings Hedge Fund. Pension funds allocate very small percentages of their assets to hedge funds. A "blow up" still wouldn't and shouldn't wipe out too much of pension fund's assets.

Easy Money In Us But Not For Long:-

MSFT, INTC, HD & WMT were included in ~1999. EK, S, BS & MOB were excluded. The index is taking on more of a "technology feel" instead of industrial.

    Should hedge funds be regulated?

When a hedge fund "blows up", wealthy people are "hurt" by it, not widows and orphans. Nobody will feel any sympathy for those losers. Legislation won't improve performance either.

Coal Is Equal To Gold Study:

LONGHORN------If you overlap a gold chart with an Appalachian Coal chart, you won't find much correlation. Australian coal might be a different story.

Coal Is Equal To Gold Study:

What he really meant was that if you squeeze coal hard enough, it'll turn into diamonds. Don't confuse it with squeezing lead and hoping to turn it into gold

    possible double top?

If the Dow Jones can surge hard above the old all-time high AND close above it on the same day, the old high would be a decent place to place initiating sell-stop orders. It might be good for atleast ~200 points to the downside. We'll see.

    Who (whom) leads Whom (who)???

Instead of looking at foreign (non-US) markets, look at where the major US indices are trading to get an indication of the market's opening. Now, get back to your New Haven dorm room and finish your English Lit homework.
