    hmmm... I have always looked at 76.4% in that area 1 - (.618 * .382), or 1 - 23.6%. Not going to be a big difference between 78.6% and 76.4% :)

Will Fed cut rates on December 11th?

They have pretty much told us they will not cut rates again at the next meeting. Unless data turns worse, particularly the November employment report, they should not cut rates. The market however seems to be expecting or demanding a rate cut. I was (very) surprised by the 50bp cut...

Here is a closeup of the same chart (2500 tics). Looks like 2046 (yellow dotted line) will be the key area.

Here is what I will be looking at Monday. Think there is chance for some upside in NQ if this triangle gets broken to the upside. Here is the longer term chart. Anyone else see it this way?

Who has excess deposits at the Fed (and lose money on rate cuts)?

matador, I don't think the OP is talking about that at all. I believe he is referring to required reserves held at the Fed. Here is an explanation, worded more clearly than I can do it myself: Also, when you write: Do you mean the Federal Reserve bank, or do you mean the...

That was weird. At 1:01 pm I was filled at 56.75 buying SDS but my charts show low trade in that time period was 56.76. Only 100 shares, but strange.

I am trading NQ because I like the $20/point. Trading 1 contract NQ is less risk than 1 contract ES. I also trade it because Anek does. I also like the way it trends.... sometimes... not today!

Who has excess deposits at the Fed (and lose money on rate cuts)?

Banks try to manage their excess reserves on a weekly (actually, I think it might be a 2 week period) basis. They would like to keep only the required amount at the Fed, and no extra, because they earn nothing on the reserves held at the Fed. But they don't want to fall short, because they...

Crude priced in Eurodollars? - Discuss

Why would it make any difference at all if oil is priced in Euros or US Dollars? It might make a psychological difference, which would wear off quickly. Would it mean that oil producers would only accept Euros as payment for their oil? No, you are simply changing the way the price is...

I can't tell you how many times I have gotten the urge to buy a dip but a little voice says, "The trend is down. Your trading plan does not allow a long trade here." :)
