    Charting ratios in ThinkorSwim

As in a pairs trade? Type the pair into the chart box -- ie "/ES-/NQ" or "SPY-QQQQ" with the symbol you're buying as the first symbol and the one you're shorting for the second.

Where will the ES open today?

It will open where it opens and we shall all trade it accordingly. This moment of trading zen brought to you by me. :)

Merrill Lynch caught illegally disseminating S&P downgrades

I saw an email (posted elsewhere) dated in April 2011 that discussed 'possible' S&P downgrade, citing pretty much the same reasons that were published in the actual downgrade report. See this news article for more info...

    RIP Thinkorswim

I think if you don't need tick-by-tick entries on futs (ie swing trading) you could be fine at TDOS / TDA / whatever. However, if you're scalping for ticks or in-and-out gunning for 2 /ES points with tight stops, it's prolly not the platform you want.

    RIP Thinkorswim

The segregated-account thing is only temporary, we're being told. TD is not a FCM yet and as such futures are still cleared thru Penson. They said on last evening's chat that they are in the process of becoming a registered FCM and as such that account segregation will go away. My account...

    Today's volume

No, I did not see Europe closed. I'm not trading this week and as such don't have all my stuff loaded or am checking all the news I normally do. That would explain much, though.

    Today's volume

Oh I am patient -- not actually trading this week anyway. With expiration, part of me wonders if we'll see a rocket to the upside so folks can exit their positions at their expected targets before the recent 2 weeks' volatility kicked in.

    Today's volume

It's 1405 ET and only 1.3M /ES have moved thus far today. Compared to seeing that many move in the premarked in recent weeks, I wonder if the markets are even open today. :) Just an observation to fill the time today.

How to cope with missing out on HUGE profit due to fat-finger mistake??!!!

There's always another trade. We move on accordingly.

    RIP Thinkorswim

New client and site seems ok to me -- my positions are all there as they should be. I have no idea where they're posting the new futures margin rates, though.

    RIP Thinkorswim

TOS wasn't ever really know for futures trading, was it? I've had futures enabled on the account for years but have never traded them there, choosing instead to go with a more focussed futures broker.

reliable broker for long term investment

Longterm investing, you should be fine pretty much anywhere. I have long-term retirement accounts at 2 fullservice brokers where the only trades that occur are DRIPs, and my annual account fees are waived. If I was actively trading those accounts I would go elsewhere, obviously -- I think...

    RIP Thinkorswim

That would rock if they opened it up for futures trading. I suspect it's only for stocks though. Is it?

    Le sigh. *moment of silence*

    Think or swim problem today

I've heard TOS is problematic for scalping futures. Not sure what you're trading though. I use TOS for equity/options/funds but not futures.

Wow - that's a change from the usual.

Yeah. Definitely spoke too soon. Heh.

Wow - that's a change from the usual.

Opened up my trading system at 0730ET and the /ES is flat. Not down (or up) major double-digits, with a generally smoother overnight session than those in recent memory. Guess that means the bottom is in. Time to buy. *ducks* (Well, I thought it was amusing. Guess I need more...

CME Increasing Forex Margin Requirements Tomorrow

Yeah I don't get the /TF raise. Seems a bit out excessive compared to the others. But then again, it is the ICE, who only offers one data feed a-la the cable television pricing model, so even if you're only trading the /TF you're forced to pay for the crap you don't ever look at. ;| Oh...

    DITM short put assignment risk?

Oh. Since I'm not one to play the odds, so if an option is in the money, I presume it can be called/assigned at any time before expiration.

    DITM short put assignment risk?

A good rule of thumb I was told early on: If your short put is in the money, you will get put the stock at expiration, dividend or no dividend. ;)
