    dtitrading.com (Busby)

I saw their Stockbox program in action a year or so ago when a friend bought it to try it for a month....ultimately he gave it up to learn his own method but he said it helped keep him honest on his entries and exits. In my case last Dec I was part of a joint special deal with DTI and TTM for...

ES trading: How many trades on avg to make a point?

"Efficiency" is dependent on many things - your trading style, market action, trading plans, and so forth. What's "efficient" for you may not be "efficient" for Trader X, Y, or Z -- or vice-versa. As a result, I daresay the "efficiency" of your trades (ie the number of round trips) is based...

Futures Broker : Velocity or open ECry ??

No problem trading eminis at OEC - been there since March and have no problems. Great platform, great fills, no worries for me.

Running Open Ecry on a mac

Not knowing crossover, I can't offer more helpful advice, but if you're NOT running a "complete" Windows emulator system on your Mac, you may run into problems. That's just my initial thoughts as a geek. Their platform just works well for me on my Mac. Fills and data at OEC? No problems...

Running Open Ecry on a mac

OEC works fine on the Mac. Since February, I've been running OEC Trader in an "emulated" XP image [1] under VMWare on my iMac 24" -- no problems to report whatsoever. I let my XP 'system' exist in 1.5GB of RAM and its charts, DOM, and data are all fine for my daytrading activities. Not sure...

need help choosing a good futures broker

First off, while I make no claims of being an expert or all-knowing or infallable, I am not a newbie nor wish to get drawn into a typical pissing match here at ET. And so I won't. I merely pointed out that at times I would see odd fill prices in my DOM - prices that do NOT include, nor...

need help choosing a good futures broker

What do you mean? You get fills on ticks. IE get filled on the ES at 985.25 or 985.50, etc. I have been filled at odd amounts at times inside the bid/ask, though. IE, 985.31 or something weird like that. Not sure why that is, but I'll take it.

need help choosing a good futures broker

I use Open E-Cry. No problems whatsoever and highly recommend them.

OEC Demo - optimistic fills or a scam?

Their live platform is, as far as I can tell, fine. Been live for a few weeks (finally!) and am impressed with the data and order fills. A slip here or there (probably due to operator error on the DOM) but nothing I'd worry about as a retail trader.

Best broker and trading platform for E-mini?

I second OPENECRY. Great platform, great rates, and few if any problems to report.

    OEC Indicators Treasure Chest

Thanks much! I tried that, importing an Easylanguage thing, and I got errors galore when it went to compile. After the 3rd or 4th attempt, I gave up and posted here. I wish OEC would allow an ELD import - gods know there are tons of stuff (indicators and strategies) precompiled already...

    OEC Indicators Treasure Chest

Here's what I think is the EL code. Source via Google Cache and some add'l background on the indicator: http://tinyurl.com/6dcay3 Inputs: Price((H+L)/2), Len(10); Vars: MaxH(0), MinL(0), Fish(0); MaxH = Highest(Price, Len); MinL =...

    OEC Indicators Treasure Chest

I have what I *think* is the EL code, will dig it up and post back here in a bit. Thx!

    OEC Indicators Treasure Chest

If anyone's interested/willing/able, a similar request for OEC Trader --- how about the Fisher Transform? Not being a coder at all makes developing stuff even more challenging, and when I look @ Easylanguage all I see is Greek. Thanks in advance for any help! *puppydog eyes*

    Freestyle Trading?

Only time I 'freestyle' these days is in the afternoon session during the final hour --- indicators are useless moreso then, s/r can disappear in a flash, and you have to (at least I think) trade exclusively on price action and direction. Might be less precise, but if you wait for a ton of...

    Collaring income?

Yes, I own the stock already, and would be looking to add to it at some point, but not doign so in this market sans 'protection.' But to your point, being long a vertical spread (ie, w/o owning the underlying) doesn't grant you the right to dividends, though.
  18. R

    Collaring income?

Does anyone here have comments/thoughts on the idea of using a collar (short call/long put on top of holding the underlying) as a relatively safe way of parking money to collect dividends? IE -- (1) Buy 100 XYZ at $15. (2) Sell a 6-mo $17.50 call, write the $12.50 put for a credit or...

Color coding for MA with OEC

Yeah OEC is quirky with its indicator development environment, unfortunately. The custom indicator stuff there seems a bit kludgy IMHO.

bullish call on AAPL earnings call

You may be buying higher IV than you are selling on the spread but you're hedged if there is a huge and lasting downside move to AAPL. Might be safer, but not sure of the r/r value there. As to the short put, if you don't mind owning the AAPL shares if it should drop to (and stays below) 85...
