I am also watching UTX -- another global conglomerate that IMHO isn't as trapped to capital finance as GE is with GE Capital. If I can start a position in UTX down in the low 40s I will.

While I don't do "fire and forget" trading or investing much I would think that GE under $10 is a screaming buy for someone looking to add it to their long-term portfolio with a 10-15-20 year horizon. Sure, the short-term might be a bit ...er, IS... a bit rocky but with a long-term perspective...

I don't want to do that - since Nov I have slowly been averaging into (both up and down) positions that I intend to keep for a long-term horizon. So moving the SDS hedge lets me control some risks w/o worrying about the 'noise' of the short term impacting the positions I am trying to build with...

For me hedging has come down to reducing the risk to my overall account value, not a specific position. IE, say I have 5 long stock positions. I may have 200 shares of SDS bought at various times (in blocks of 25 or 50) over a few weeks or months to 'hedge' my portfolio bottom line if/when...

Speaking of OEC does anyone know if EL code for Linear Regression Channels can be coded or imported into OEC trader, or is that too complicated a formula for the platform?

On most days when trading the ES I have a 5-point emergency stop automatically applied on all orders upon entering a position. That's in case of network or computer problems.....mentally I will give myself 2 or 3 points for a trade to 'work' but if it doesn't happen, I'll manually close it at...

Sitting here in the USA: CNBC-US is a joke. Lots of hype, glitz, cheesy special effects, screaming, talking-over each other, and the infernal Octabox. It's an absolute joke. It's ESPN for the stock market. Besides, they are not 24-hours -- they really gear themselves for the 'investors'...

I looked at them recently myself - but either ToS or the exchange won't let you place a spread order as one order, so its utility as a trading vehicle kind of sucks IMHO....I was told that if I wanted to do a spread on the ES options that I'd have to leg into them. Bleh. :(

For me, I LOVE the fact the ToS platform is native on the Mac. I don't need to be only web-based, or use a Windows emulator to trade. The platform is slick, quick, useful, and all the other stuff we love about ToS. Sad day, indeed.

I moved from OXPS to ToS last summer because I hated the web-only OXPS interface for trading, and their Java-based xTend was horrible and useless for active trading. Otherwise the firm was okay and I was quite happy there. Depending on what happens post-merger, I may go back to OXPS or look...
