    OEC Indicators Treasure Chest

Anyone have either Linear Regression Channels and/or Heiken Ashi candles working within OEC Trader? Or are these be "too complex" of Easylanguage or C# scripts for OEC to import and process? I love OEC Trader and OEC but I gotta admit I find their custom indicator development experience a...

More proof that CNBC =! informed investing

...as if you/we needed further proof of CNBC-USA's role as the pre-eminent channel for stock market-oriented infotainment. (Note: CNBC-World is far more toned down and 'rational' than CNBC-USA in recent years....IMHO almost Bloomberg-like with CNBC graphics.) Fighting Over Money...What...

    General Electric...

I am also watching UTX -- another global conglomerate that IMHO isn't as trapped to capital finance as GE is with GE Capital. If I can start a position in UTX down in the low 40s I will.

    General Electric...

While I don't do "fire and forget" trading or investing much I would think that GE under $10 is a screaming buy for someone looking to add it to their long-term portfolio with a 10-15-20 year horizon. Sure, the short-term might be a bit ...er, IS... a bit rocky but with a long-term perspective...

Please explain "hedging" to me like I'm a 1st grader

I don't want to do that - since Nov I have slowly been averaging into (both up and down) positions that I intend to keep for a long-term horizon. So moving the SDS hedge lets me control some risks w/o worrying about the 'noise' of the short term impacting the positions I am trying to build with...

Please explain "hedging" to me like I'm a 1st grader

For me hedging has come down to reducing the risk to my overall account value, not a specific position. IE, say I have 5 long stock positions. I may have 200 shares of SDS bought at various times (in blocks of 25 or 50) over a few weeks or months to 'hedge' my portfolio bottom line if/when...

    OEC Indicators Treasure Chest

Speaking of OEC does anyone know if EL code for Linear Regression Channels can be coded or imported into OEC trader, or is that too complicated a formula for the platform?

    Catastrophic or "emergency" buy/sell stops

On most days when trading the ES I have a 5-point emergency stop automatically applied on all orders upon entering a position. That's in case of network or computer problems.....mentally I will give myself 2 or 3 points for a trade to 'work' but if it doesn't happen, I'll manually close it at...

    CNBC/CNBC World or Bloomberg

Sitting here in the USA: CNBC-US is a joke. Lots of hype, glitz, cheesy special effects, screaming, talking-over each other, and the infernal Octabox. It's an absolute joke. It's ESPN for the stock market. Besides, they are not 24-hours -- they really gear themselves for the 'investors'...

ES Options...Are they liquid enough to trade?

I looked at them recently myself - but either ToS or the exchange won't let you place a spread order as one order, so its utility as a trading vehicle kind of sucks IMHO....I was told that if I wanted to do a spread on the ES options that I'd have to leg into them. Bleh. :(

    Cnbc

I surfed thru CNBC for the first time in ages this morning as I was making breakfast. All I have to say is: WTF is up with CNBC becoming the Wall Street Court TV channel? You know how CNN, MSNBC, and Fox have the box showing the satellite image of hurricanes as they approach the...

    thinkorswim acquired by ameritrade.

Don't forget there's a special ToS chat today at 4:15 to discuss. Not sure if it'll be anything more than reassurances and such, but we'll see.

    Think or Swim

For me, I LOVE the fact the ToS platform is native on the Mac. I don't need to be only web-based, or use a Windows emulator to trade. The platform is slick, quick, useful, and all the other stuff we love about ToS. Sad day, indeed.

    Think or Swim

I moved from OXPS to ToS last summer because I hated the web-only OXPS interface for trading, and their Java-based xTend was horrible and useless for active trading. Otherwise the firm was okay and I was quite happy there. Depending on what happens post-merger, I may go back to OXPS or look...

    thinkorswim acquired by ameritrade.

Dammit. I finally found a fantastic niche broker with great people, an amazing platform, and wonderful customer service, and now it gets bought by one of the big "retail" players. Ugh. At first read, I hope this deal doesn't go through - part of ToS attraction for me is its small...

    EasyLanguage Treasure Chest

Some of these look REALLY excellent and helpful tools, and this thread is a nifty resource......yet for some reason I am unable to import them into OEC Trader via its 'easylanguage' function. Can anyone here offer any guidance and/or convert 2-3 of these into OEC-friendly scripts for this...
