Apple Magic mouse, SWEET for trading

I meant to say I've been trading on a Mac for 2 years and have used a Mac in my personal life for over 12 years. That said, I do not use an Apple Mouse so the negative comments about that particular device may indeed be accurate. I've not seen/used it yet so I can't comment on it. - No...

Apple Magic mouse, SWEET for trading

#2 is a totally baseless statement. I trade using a Mac running stuff either in Windows via VMWare (ie NT) or natively through TOS Desktop. 90% of my time I am not in the Windows element at all, if you must know. Works just fine for me and I wouldn't have it any other way.

New Strategy For QQQQ in Options...Tested Already

Ummm ... I could be wrong, but that's almost the exact type of trade that Darlene (forget her name) discusses in a free webinar about trading the qqqqs that I saw a few years ago when I first got into options. The .10 profit target for $1000/day is something I know she was using in her...

    DRYS Jan 2011

Huh. I did not know that. Thanks!

    DRYS Jan 2011

I haven't looked at DRYS in a while but I don't think they're in the drill ship business --- they are a dry bulk shipping company. So based on what you said, are you perhaps confusing this with one of the oil tanker companies? And yes, long calls will have unlimited upside, but if...

thinkorswim now has free S&P 500 futures pit squawk

Whie I find it distracting as a trader (I don't use TV let alone music) I do like listening in from time to time. Kind of nifty. :)

    IMac 27": Good for trading?

+1 I use a 24" imac for trading and love it

Are you sick of technical analysis? I am...

I agree with the seintment of the OP -- though I would say "I am sick of noisy charts" and as a result of simplifying my screens tremendously, have become a much better and more confident trader. I still do TA but it's certainly not "analysis paralysis" and something I can quickly see what's...

    Successful traders - sim practice?

When sim trading, if you plan to use 1 or 2 contracts "live" try running 8 or 10 in the sim first. Think about it: When sim trading it's far too easy to see "-12.50, -25.00" and think "no big deal" on 1 or 2 virtual contracts --- but when you start seeing "-1250.00, -2500.00" for that first...

    Is Bloomberg becoming another CNBC?

I think that's their plan - I recall reading something a few months ago how they wanted to spruce up their news outlet and do more 'news' outside the business world. Frankly, I think it's a mistake -- Bloomberg targets PROFESSIONALS; CNBC targets amateurs. Their broadcast-from-the-lobby in...

    Options Trading Software

ThinkorSwim. Hands down recommend it -- great platform, great reliability, free data, great customer service, etc etc etc. I've been a TOS'er for 1.5 years and am quite happy.

Capital One credit card defaults rise in September

LOL ... this comes a week after GS added COF to their 'conviction buy' list, too. I guess GS needed to unload a bunch of COF shares on the unspecting hordes of retailers who see GS' imprimateur as a sign of reality and flock -- nay, herd -- to their brokers whenever their 'buy list' is...

    ES option expiration

Speaking of futures options (ES in particular) are they any sources of good information other than the CME on why one would use them, how they act compared to SPX options, and so forth? I've been looking for stuff on "futures options" but unfortunately almost every hit on that phrase or...

What are the Software needs of a beginner?

If you're just learning, may I recommend ThinkorSwim -- data feed and platform are free and you can experiment till your heart's content. Once you see how the market/tape "works" and get a feel for things, then you can fine-tune your setup and decide what will work best for you. That's just...

    what indicators do you use?

What you say may work for you, and if so, I applaud you for sharing your method....but to say with certainty that an expert will see such-and-such is, in my view, an incorrect conclusion. With respect, you may see seven clear trades on a chart, someone else may see 3, someone else might see...

Goldman Sachs ups large U.S. banks to attractive

When I heard they added ailing CapitalOne to their 'Conviction Buy' list this morning my first thought was, "gee, they must need to unload a ton of CapitalOne stock soon...."

Goldman Sachs Changes U.S. Jobs Forecast to 250K

If they gave that horrid number and the jobs report was better than expected and the market exploded higher, the way the market was coiling for a drop, I'm sure there'd be cries of 'manipulation" :) Still, I can't believe why people (people, analysts, managers, media) continue giving so much...

    Congrats CNBC

LOL it's CNBC, whose viewership has continued to decline this year despite all their gimmics, sfx, power panels, and octo-box discussions. Go figure. Hell, yesterday during lunch I surfed onto CNBC around 1:05 hoping to get some idea of the market action that day. To my amazement they...

New commission rates at Velocity Futures

Although there's a bunch of stuff hidden behind the "contact us" moniker (why??) it is nice to see a futures broker posting their commisions page publicly for a change -- most places ask you to register for a demo account or something before you can see the rates.
