I guess I misunderstood what you were saying ... I thought you meant you were trying to convert from a 401k (say at Fidelity) to IB. However in this thread of course you meant from an IRA at IB (rolled over from a 401k) to your Roth. I would call IB and ask them how to fix it. You may...

I'd think you'd need to update your address with the 401k broker and then perform the conversion. Also try calling IB and see if they can maybe fix it over the phone.

Not sure how else you could convert ... unless you wanted to change the account type but I don't think any broker will do that for you.

Go into Account Management in the traditional ira and there will be a link on the left menu (I believe under funds management but I can't remember). In my case the funds were converted that night, although they did say they will not do a conversion over options expiry weekend.

To anyone following this, IB has now got this up and running. I converted my traditional IRA earlier this week to my Roth.

Also note the second login will also need to subscribe to market data and be subject to the $10 fee (again I think ... never had under $30 in commissions in one month)

In my case it didn't do anything as I was already connected (all market data was green) but something was still wrong.

Bob, As it turned out my API connection was not properly connected, something was wrong and I needed to restart TWS. Orders from my client were not getting to TWS. I guess that's what the gridlines were telling me. It's working now though thanks! SSB
