Earlier selloff in er2 could be a trap. In a quiet day like today, (and also a Friday) it could get ramped up in the afternoon. Yesterday's AM selloff flushed out a lot of weak hands...

In the example in the original post, we are talking about one particular person paying the same $ amount for each of two items ($200 for a concert ticket and $200 for a phone card) but this person is willing to replace only one of them if it gets lost but not the other -- i.e., irrational logic...

another little example which shows that we human beings are not totally rational... (btw, in the example, both are valued at exactly the same $200 so it is not the case that one is more valuable than the other as the previous two posts imply.)

Are there securities (ETF-like) which move opposite to a particular sector? i.e., How can one bet against a sector in a IRA-type acct where shorting is not allowed? I know buying puts on ETFs is an option, but I don't think that will work well for me. Is there another way? I am not...
