    global futures ???

IB has the lowest commissions, and probably one of the best platforms in terms of execution speed, and the level of customization. Maybe their support is not great...but for what they charge does that even matter? Not trying to be rude...just wondering why it is that you have such and opinion...

    why do we need spreads?

Htrader - That was a very clear answer to Gordon's question. Out of curiosity, does anyone know why GLOBEX sets a minimum spreads?

Do you think the IPO is a step in the right direction? I mean if it's public then maybe there will be some external pressure on management.

    anatomy of a backtest report

One of the most important to consider when reviewing backtested results is in-sample vs. out-sample results. If a trading system is created based on a data from a certain period of time, and it is also tested on the same time period, the results are not very useful. For the results to be...

    For e-mini S&P traders specialists

There isn't much useful information on the site, only some good looking statistics that may be misleading or false. The website says the system "...uses a lot of mathematical algorithms based on our trading knowledge and experience." A LOT of mathematical algorithms? Our knowledge and...

What hours do you trade E-minis?

estrader - I use a combination of MA crossovers, stochs and my own "feel" as to where the market is trending for my open. For the exit I have a 1 to 2 point target depending on market conditions, and a -1.5 hard stop. I place orders to buy at the bid, and sell orders at the ask and I find that...

Can You Trade ES/NQ with IB's Quotes?

I agree with Ditch. I have compared IB's quotes to BridgeStation & NexTrend and IB is usually on par or a bit ahead.

    ES or NQ ?

cheeks - I see what you mean, I extended your test to include 1 year of daily data. The ES has an average range of 22.2 pts x $50 = $1105. The NQ has an average range of 46.2 pts x $20 = $924. So the NQ has higher point volatility but the ES has higher dollar volatility.

What hours do you trade E-minis?

estrader - Can you please post some details on your trading methodology? It seems like you do very well, so I'm curious to know about your style and strategy.

    ES or NQ ?

Oh, forgot to mention that the ES has higher liquidity.

    ES or NQ ?

I don't understand exactly what you mean by daily dollar range. The volatility of the NQ is higher than the ES, however the contract multiplier of the ES is higher. Even though the ES multiplier is higher, the NQ is still more volatile even when this is included in the calculation. Meaning...

    E-minis afterhours trading

estrader - I started trading the eminis in September and my first few trades were made at night. There are three reasons for this... 1. I'm in school most business hours. 2. The eminis (ES at least) have less volatility during these hours. 3. I wanted to get comfortable placing orders and...

    slippage for mini sp

Oh...I forgot to mention that if you trade 50 contracts then what I said definately doesn't apply to you!
  18. B

    slippage for mini sp

In my opinion, the proper value for slippage should be the price you pay to get into and out of a position. If you buy at the ask and sell at the bid, then you are paying the spread. If you trade during business hours then it would seem logical to assume one tick for the ES. If you trade at...

    Level two and Eminis

I've been using level 2 to watch the market and determine when is the optimal point to enter/exit a position (within a tick or two). This may not apply to many of you out there...but for a full-time student/part-time trader like me with a very small account, a couple of ES ticks is a big deal!
