    NexTrend Charting Software

and said that they should take a look at this part of this thread. I experienced the what I call the "lock up" problem that some others have written about on the previous page. I thought it was my computer or feed. Glad to read that it isn't but that, coupled with the late quotes, is...

For you guys who use hot keys when using IB's interface, how do you set up a short sale? Thanks! Best, Jim

    IB: What software to use?

I am using Realtick as my data vendor. It really is a first class package but if your idea of paying $300+ a month for Realtick doesn't sit too well with you, you might try nextrend.com. Their software works well, the charts are okay and get the job done for me. I'm doing another trial with...

    a neat site

Almost too good to be true. You guys have brought up some good points...and I'm interested in checking them out. One question I have is about the Java-ness of it. How much does it really matter, if any at all? I mean, we all probably run java stuff from time to time and with the speed of...

    a neat site

I've been a realtick user for a while now and this IRD is just too good to be true. There's gotta be a downside but after visiting their website I didn't find one. I'm going to give these people a try next week...for heavens sake, $10 for realtime futures from the CME is really a deal...

Does anyone else have a foreboding sense.....

Thanks for the pointer to that article. I'm not totally convinced that the rate of return on stox is as gloomy as the author claimed. But it is Sunday morning where I live and I haven't even had my second cup of coffee. But let's say he IS correct...that's just more evidence of two things...

Does anyone else have a foreboding sense.....

As far as recessions go, this one ain't much. Really. My son and I were speculating on the direction of the economy and it was a perfect opportunity to discuss the business cycle. IMO, if the cycle spends too little time at the bottom (recession) not enough of the fat in our economy will be...

    paper trading

What a bonehead!...me, not you! :( I completely missed the point of your post and somehow got on a jag about paper trading. Damned if I know why. Full moon, bad gin, who knows, who cares. Sorry! Best, Jim B

    paper trading

has really worked for me. I would guess that I'm not alone on this. When something in my trading goes "wrong" I stop trading and do a day or two of papertrading to try to find out what's going on. Yes, I know, slippage and all that stuff isn't factored in to my raw numbers when I...

For Serious Traders from Don Bright

Hey, I'm not here to defend Don or Bright trading but you've made some, shall we say, slightly inflammatory statements with out providing any sources. For example, just how do you know that Bright is married to First Options? A bailout "a long time ago." I mean, just where do you come up with...

For Serious Traders from Don Bright

and welcome to the board! I, for one, hope you check in from time to time. You're the absolute authority when it comes to Bright Trading. There's a hell of a lot of speculation and guessing when it comes to your firm and it would be great to hear what's what straight from you. btw, Gene...

    Rookie stuff.

What size are you traing? 100 shares at a time, 500, 1000? It makes a difference especially for risk control. Above all, you have to go by "Perserve thy capital." This is the most important rule for you to remember. It is job 1!! Good god, man, after losing 10% of you account, didn't...

    NexTrend Charting Software

Just one man's opinion... I use RealTick but if I had to switch it would probably be to Nextrend. There are a few aspects to my trading style that make Realtick worth it for me but I tried out Nextrend for a couple of months and liked it. I believe they have a "free" trial period...try...

    New IB INterface

But thanks anyway. What I've done, until I can really delve into it, is make the background color a light gray and used, as you suggested, arial black. Again, thanks! Jim

    New IB INterface

cranked the colors to 24 bit, checked the page layout but I'm not seeing what you do. There seems to be no selection for that too bright highlight. What am I missing here? Thanks!

    New IB INterface

I just downloaded the latest IB Trader Wk'stn. When I highlight a stock, the highlight almost completely washes out the numbers on that line. Can anyone help me on this...is there a setting for this? I sure can't find one. Many thanks!! Jim
