As much as I prefer to enter a trading day without a directional bias, it sure looks like it's gonna be a down day--particularly in the first hour. Should be fun.

Man, the market lulls me to sleep, I stop paying attention for a while and BAM, there it goes. From 1:45 until 2:40 (Central) my data shows the tick at or above 1000 on 10 out of 12 (5 min) candles. And at 2:15 it damn near hit 1500. That is some serious, sustained program buying. Though...

Consumer confidence higher than last month but still read as cautious. Home sales and re-sales fall from last month. Everyone start buying! Huh? I just stand on the sidelines when these types of numbers come out. Sure my long signal panned out but I just don't like trading these...

That's why I have developed hard and fast entry and exit rules based on my indicators. If it says to stay in, I stay in. If it says to exit, I exit. That's it.

I had a little trouble following the original post. If you're suggesting that you come back after a stop with double the original position, I did not and do not do that. However, my initial profit target for the first half of my position is equal to the stop amount of a full position. So...

Got to stick to my trading rules. If I'm up by x amount before noon, I keep trading until I have a loser and then I'm done for the day. If I'm up by y before noon, I stop for the day. I'm up by y.

Heck yeah. Had a great long this morning right after the open and rode it up for 50 points. Got stopped on a premature short at 9:11 and then took a better one about 20 minutes later. I'm ready to call it a day. Maybe I'll swtich over to my sim acct and see how the rest of the day unfolds...
