Stupid options question for this month

It totally depends upon which contracts you're referring to. Assuming you mean US American-style Equity options (and not ETFs, S&P 500 index options, futures options, or foreign options), then yes--they're always 3rd Friday of the month.

    Night Options Trading

I believe LIFFE may be your only choice (starting at about 2am CST and closing around 7am). KOSPI options, for example, are not legally available to US citizens. You can, of course, trade US options on foreign underlyings through CME (yen, nikkei)...

    I'm looking for a broker

Brokers being in the business of generating commissions and all, it's hard to believe they'd be interested in finding out how much money you'll produce for them before extending you a discounted rate and margins reduced by 90%.

No way are stocks selling off in Sept

Quote from DeepFried: I'll bite and take the bear side. -Growth is lower but strong at 2.9% GDP, If growth is strong, the fed will continue raising rates. If a slowdown occurs, then growth isn't strong. -Fed appears to have stopped hiking rates and some are saying they'll cut rates...

IB rejected me, other broker with per share Commish?

I'm amazed at the number of people on this thread openly admitting to fraud. The people who "get creative" with their apps are the ones who force brokers to do background checks, get copies of drivers licenses, and all the rest of the crap thats been recently instituted. Thanks.

IB rejected me, other broker with per share Commish?

That's not it. It's the lack of a job. Like another poster said, I'd also be reluctant to open an account with a broker that allowed someone with $18k of income and no job to start trading. Still, they're not the only game in town. Try Schwab or Scotttrade. The former allowed me to trade in...

IB rejected me, other broker with per share Commish?

I think there's your answer. Dental school is WAAAAY expensive. $18k/yr is not going to pay for it, so you're going to be borrowing lots of money. If I were IB, I'd be concerned about signing up someone who is about to incur large amounts of debt. That aside, I'm not sure I'd want to sign up...

    PUTS Question

Are you sure? OCC told me exactly what Batman did (that sentence didn't help my credibility)--if there's no trading of the underlying, there's no settlement, no nothing. Basically, their message was, "If you think they're going to halt trading, you'd better close your options out"

    PUTS Question

Options require the underlying to be traded. If trading is halted on the underlying, so is trading on the options. I asked this question of the OCC about a year ago (ahem, Delphi). In short, they said you're out of luck if trading is halted for any reason.

Hey Danno, Are you putting in market or limit orders for these things? I just moved to Man, and had some serious confusion over their software today, but the commissions are great!

i got an excelent strategy and papers to proe it but cant seem to find a prop or back

So, I assume you've taken all the valid suggestions, like talking to Don Bright, and he rejected you? Have you looked through the list of prop firms that was posted here: http://www.traderdaily.com/news/item/1085.html Or are you asking us to do your legwork for you?

i got an excelent strategy and papers to proe it but cant seem to find a prop or back

What, you actually HAD a losing month? Wow, what a loser! Anyone who has read ET long enough knows that no one has EVER had a losing month here, and you just admitted you're not ONE OF US. Now that that unpleasantness is over with... Does anyone know how long $5000 will last trading options?

    Options - Don Fishback ODDS

I found the start of an interesting thread about GARCH, which devolved into a flame war by the end (ah, Elite Trader, so reliable). How are you making using of GARCH in your analysis? Have you tried R? Are you using S+ FinMetrics? Is it an API that you've developed an app on top of?

what are these new options ?

What underlying? If it's SPX, there have been weeklies traded for at least 4-5 months. If it's Lumber, the last day of the month was always expiration.
