Source of Option time & sales data?

DTN's IQFeed supplies historical T&S for both equity and futures options.

    Can IB chart spreads?

    Yes, and no.

    January contract expires before January??

Think of it like cash, rather than accrual, accounting. If you own an ES contract and it goes up 1 point, at the end of the day, you are paid $50. The next day, you're starting with a completely clean slate. If it goes down 1 point, you pay $50. All of this is settled at the end of each and...

    January contract expires before January??

Sure, you can take delivery. Otherwise, Last Trade Date is the Last Trade Date. If you're using IB, they'll close the position out for you if you don't do it yourself. Also, the liquidity in the front month is going to really evaporate right before expiration, and you probably don't want to...

    ER2 combo

Send a message to IB's support desk. Maybe it's just a bug? Otherwise, I don't have any recommendations for native combos.

    OCs Implied Volatility Trading Journal

I like the concept of the strategy--what do you do to determine the odds of a company being acquired? Just this month, I got hurt on a calendar when PLAY was acquired. RIMM, FFIV, MSTR all seem ripe for acquisitions on the surface.

    historical implied vol

At $1, I'd take Profitaker's copy, if I were you. It has at least $1 worth of useful stuff in it. It probably is not worth the $52.50 that Amazon wants (and I paid). :-)

    ER2 combo

I've not found an option combo order that will work on Globex at IB. I'm guessing it's a limitation of IB since eCBOT and Globex promote heavily their combos.

Where/How to trade in the pit?

I do it for portfolio diversification. If the S&P takes a nosedive, bonds and the EuroFx will likely move substantially along with it. Sugar, on the other hand, will probably not do much. The former I can trade electronically, the latter only in the pit.

    ER2 combo

What exchange, what market. Was the market open at the time? Was it a futures contract with a limit move?

    historical implied vol

One other thing to be aware of--the book was written some 14 years ago. Certainly the options market today is an entirely different beast than it was then. There are some universal truths with derivatives, but much of his commentary about what the market will do seemed to be describing a market...

    historical implied vol

The first 60% of the book is the introductory option stuff that you should already know reading a book like "Option Market Making". There next 30% or so is "what to do if you need (gamma, vega, theta, delta)" which is nothing terribly creative or surprising. The last 10% is story telling...

    Avoid cancellation charges

Sure, when you're paying $13 to trade 10 option lots instead of $7.50 at IB, little things like "cancellation fees" can be hidden in the $5.50 you pay extra each time you trade. But all of this is an endless argument. It's unlikely someone who intentionally, and in the face of any...

What leverage do you get on CBOT?

6 what and 100 what? Margins for both are easilly accessible: http://www.cbot.com/cbot/pub/page/0,3181,2142,00.html#1a http://www.cme.com/html.wrap/wrappedpages/clearing/pbrates/PBISOutrightCBT-AG.htm?h=2 There are also discounts for various spreads. Margins change fairly frequently...

In general, the price of the option will not rise, it will just stop decreasing at some point. The market doesn't miss stuff like this. IV and MM are talking about gamma scalping--in essence you have an option which doesn't have theta any more. What do you do with that?

    trade the old news .com

See, there's your problem--you posted the price. Secret pricing is a sure sign of a good service. Even better is if your force clients to call and demand they reveal their account balance. Get it right.

Where/How to trade in the pit?

I believe it completely depends on who is in the pit (the floor broker), not really the broker (IB). I'd say give it a try and see if you're happy. Opening an account at a new broker is probably not worth the time if you can trade what you need to at IB. I opened an account elsewhere so I...

Where/How to trade in the pit?

You generally will not see a bid/ask on pit traded contracts. It requires a reporter to sit there listening to bids/asks and typing them into a computer. For the front months, you may get this, but for back months or options, you may not. Welcome to the world of pit trading--the price you...

Where/How to trade in the pit?

Lean Hogs Oct 07 does indeed trade electronically (but, there's not much liquidity this far out and electronic hasn't really taken off yet). On IB, the symbol root is HE. You can trade the pit-traded LH contract on IB. Just select "CME" instead of "GLOBEX" when it prompts.
