    Wanted: Low Cost EasyLanguage Programmer

Yep. Perhaps the OP likes to put bids in 50% below the market and hopes they get filled too. At least in that case, the contract is standardized and you can be almost guaranteed of delivery. Maybe I should start my own thread: Wanted: Low cost May Corn contract. Will pay up to $2/bushel.

This "newb answer" is absolutely right. Early assignment is all but guaranteed, and you've got to include carrying costs.

IQFeed data vs other data providers

I'm not sure I understand the issue--I use IQFeed and request 30 minute bars as 30 minute bars. Their system is actually quite flexible in this respect--if you want 37 minute bars, it will only return you that. I've not looked at DDE, so maybe this is the issue, but accessing odd increment...

    Eurodollar Spreads

Ignore my previous post. "Technology issues" had me believing this spread steepened 50bp today instead of the mild flattening which actually occurred.

    Gold/Silver Spread for Dummies

I'm curious to hear in which cases it is "much riskier"? Worst case, a spread can be no more risky than two outright positions. I guess you could argue that any situation in which the exchange gives you less than a 50% break on spread margins is "riskier" than a single outright position...

Greenspan: US to go into recession

Did anyone actually read the article? Greenspan: "While, yes, it is possible we can get a recession in the latter months of 2007, most forecasters are not making that judgment..." 'Greenspan said that while it would be "very precarious" to try to forecast that far into the future, he...

Straddle, Spread, Breakout - The Greenrush Capital Journal

Why good beans, weak wheat? I'm interested in your fundamental argument. My argument from the other side: Last WASDE has 33% greater ending stocks of beans than any time in more than 20 years. With soy oil languishing, crushers are really only able to sell meal at a good price. The only...

    Gold/Silver Spread for Dummies

Now that several people have jumped on this "pith", I'm curious what you think is the safest place to start? 1) Spreading is generally less risky than outright positions. A bull spread in Corn takes substantially less margin (and you can assume the exchanges know what they're doing when the...

    Wanted: Low Cost EasyLanguage Programmer

A "Senior Software Developer for 15 years" wants to work for $20/hour? If you're good, I've got a business that would be happy to hire you for $40k/yr and you can pay your own health insurance and taxes. I know EasyLanguage like the back of my hand, but $65/hour is my lowest end for a...

    Eurodollar Spreads

There's far greater liquidity on the futures as opposed to the swaps (at least exchange traded swaps). That aside, the swap and futures do float quite a bit. Take a look at the 10 yr note vs 10 yr swap spread.

    Eurodollar Spreads

Hi Fandyur, I just added Eurodollars to my repertoire. I opened an +M8-M9 two days ago. I technically liked the chart pattern. I'm also liking the idea of "one more fed raise and done" which should benefit this spread. The TUT spread (long twos) is pretty interesting at this point too...

    Commodity Correlation Table

You people don't know what you're talking about. Dow component companies employ people. Dow going up results in people being paid more. Well-paid people can now afford to substitute high-grade Corn for the cheaper feed they usually eat. Therefore Corn goes up. Economics 101...

    Negative theta?

I can't think of a situation that someone would PAY YOU to allow them to take on risk. Negative Time Value would require the option to be worth less than its intrinsic value. Who would sell you that? Perhaps he meant combinations of options?

    Negative theta?

Time value is not the same as theta. Theta is the change in time value per day. That being said, it is possible to have positive theta on a bought option and negative theta on a sold option. Two possible causes are a corporate action or a dividend. Even then, time value only appears...
