    Bitcoin Price Thread

There is really no good shorting trade on these stuff. Even if you believe perfectly in its eventual demise. It might run to 50,000 first. Suppose you shorted at 10,000, with $10K, meaning one bitcoin. When it goes to 50,000, you have to put up 40,000 to meet the margin requirement, so if it...

buying a ponzi on the dip? You may get it this time, but in the long run you will be toast doing this. Bitcoin already had > 80% draw-downs before, so this is yet dawn on the day of crushing of the ponzi.

Sell most (or all) of your cryptocurrencies now

Plenty! Bitcoin is based on difficulty of getting a matching hash as the number of cases/zeroes increases. Revolutionary? Hardly. As a graduate with emphasis on IT security and solid grounding in mathematics, I am appalled that is all it took to create a 'value' that rose 300,000 times in 9...

Sell most (or all) of your cryptocurrencies now

It does not need to be an individual paying out to be a ponzi. This is an automated pay-out system. The first person(s) who are the creators amassed themselves more than 1million btc, at a time when the price is less than 5 cents. Now the price 7/8 years later is an astronomical 300,000 times...

Yes, 10K to 17K. That will withstand the correction? Just laughing. You think bitcoin is a Microsoft, that a 40% correction is abnormal. What about 99.9% correction on the way to extinction? - no I am not saying this week, or next.

Who are "they"? Does not sound to me like the free-of-central control/manipulation currency it was sold as.

Is it just the fed, or the Trump admin - deregulation and all, turn a blind eye to ponzi schemes? How can any one justify all the free pump everywhere - brokers, early investors, media on this, while it is illegal for hedgefunds investing in real companies (GOOD, AMZN, MSFT,FB) to advertise to...

Customers of Interactive Brokers file class action complaint over management of portfolio margin acc

Does anybody not see something wrong with the system - for ordering child support of $51000 a month? based on what? non-guaranteed income from $25m? What is the risk-free rate of return on that? Taking prior 2/3 yrs trading income as yardstick, and fixing the payout is plain cruel on a trader.

The party din is hitting hard on my ear-drums, but I am not joining. I remember all too well starting in the market (anything Nasdaq) in December 1999 as the party noise got to me, shortly before the peak.

Is there a way to set an order within a large spread that is, say, always a tick away from the bid?

Yes your program can do that. Hopefully it knows not to outbid yourself. That would be a lot of activity though - not sure what you broker may say : some will warn you if your cancellation/fill ratio exceeds a certain limit.

Wow! what should I say? Check out stocks like Xcelera (XLA) and e-toys in year 2000 just before the bubble bust - and what they are now. At least people knew what those companies generally did (or claimed to do). Never thought that kind of gold rush would happen again in my trading life-time...

Do people even know what they are buying? This looks eerily similar to the tulip bulb mania of 1637 (according to the accounts). At the peak, one bulb of tulip was the yearly wage of 10 people! Not sure what a real 'bitcoin' is worth, but maybe when it gets to the yearly wage of 10 labourers...

Annual PnL statement 2017 - Winner will be awarded a prize!

This is getting funnier with each post. Don't know where to start : try carry out your instructions for a few days yourself and post the results? Or is this a case of a stay-at-home mum telling the man that toils every month to bring 5k home "why can't you make 100K a month? Every one is doing...

    Pekelo's 2nd gap rule

Your thread says 2nd Gap, and you are stretching it to 5 gaps! Is that doubling down or what? Ever tested this theory in 2008?

2020 Could See the End Of Amazon as We Know It: NYU Prof.

Yeah right! A 10% increase in revenue without accompanying increase in costs! The margins are so tight, and the competition so real I don't see such room. If they think squeezing out JCP, TGT, WMT etc means they will have monopoly to increase price, they should think again - it won't happen.

2020 Could See the End Of Amazon as We Know It: NYU Prof.

Since AMZN just blasted off to a new high, here I am sweating over my assertion (July 28th). So AMZN gets 52cents vs 2cents expected, and we are up $130. Well, four quarters - that makes $2.00, and a PE of 550. At some point the market will realize this is a megacap, and the PE matters. So yes...

    2014: The Battle for Survival

Period Update 07/01/2017 - 09/30/2017 ---------- Continued recovery. 3/3 positive months for the quarter. It feels good to have this positive streak, each month confirming that it was a good decision to scale back, adjust expectations, confine trading to rules, and keep sticking to them. I keep...
