I made a 450% Return on my investment thanks to this crash today!

Hope you stepped up this time. I really thought you would be posting here regretting your size on the earlier trade. Going in on the opportunity of the year(s) on 0.1% of account seems way too conservative. My own head-ache is trying to limit the big size to those opportunities, and them only :)

    2014: The Battle for Survival

Thanks for your interest. January was brutal for me. But this week provided some reprieve - though playing with smaller size.

Buying Put Options instead of Shorting

You realise that option price is a guess-timate - so thinking mid is fair value would be detrimental to the market maker. If someone with better knowledge hits the ask (with spread of 1cent) with volume, forget about the prior 'fair value', it is no more the fair value. It is that uncertainty...

So this was like trading in the late 90s?

People weren't trading S&P500 in 1999 (so to speak). It was all about Nasdaq. I believe that index rose 85% that year. The best performing stock in the Nasdaq 100 was Qualcomm (QCOM), with a mouth-watering 2500% return. The best of Nasdaq 100 last year (not sure whether its NVDA or not) does not...

This guy says futures are a failure

Here are some to start with. May have to research where they are now: CMGI ICGE (Internet Capital Group) CMRC (Commerce One) The globe .com Yahoo Netscape Alta Vista Lycos Compuserve Prodigy Geocities America Online (AOL) ...and tons of others (many bankrupt or delisted). Its easier to...

This guy says futures are a failure

Thanks for responding. The argument for 'store of value' is one of the most ridiculous I can think of. something that appreciates 300,000-fold in 8 years is anything but a 'store'. It is hyper-speculative. Not even the best survivor from the dotcom era (I believe Amazon) has done 1000-fold from...

This guy says futures are a failure

That would be $6.3 trillion anchored on thin air - of which clones are everywhere - even better ones. Care to tell us how many bitcoins you own?

So this was like trading in the late 90s?

From that chart, seems the 20th/21st century is a massive bubble. Took 100 years at a time to go up 10-fold between 1500 and 1900. Since then, it has been nearly 200-times in 100 years. Any reason for this?

This guy says futures are a failure

In the interest of fair disclosure, can you tell us how many bitcoins you hold? Also specific products built on blockchain technology does not translate to bitcoin appreciating in value - any more than greater use of the internet made AOL or MySpace stock price to keep appreciating (I am being...

This guy says futures are a failure

Don't you think the holders will start bailing out if this thing drifts aimlessly for one year?

    2014: The Battle for Survival

My automation is not at the brokers server. Its all in-house and runs from my computer in the cloud. I moved my system to the cloud to ensure higher availability, non-interference, and system performance. I only port executable code (not source code) there, and ensure some minimal level of...

All in a few short years! this ponzi will not end up well. Litigations, congressional hearings, jail times - all ahead.

    Stop Loss on Options

Just accept that the premium paid is your stop. That of course means you must play with only a fraction of your account. As for the exit, like others said, do so when you think the underlying is no more confirming your expectation. Maximum, you lose your stop (premium).

    2014: The Battle for Survival

Goals? If you mean like new-year resolutions, my goal is to become as disciplined as it gets with my man-machine partnership, and reduce the degree of discretion further. As for financial targets, well I would like it to be better than last year - both in dollar terms and percentage performance...

    2014: The Battle for Survival

The initial plan was to suspend monthly update until my account balance (after withdrawals) comes above 200K (the poverty line). That is still the plan, unless I feel it is too much to go back to monthly updates.

    2014: The Battle for Survival

How much time I need ? Probably 2 hours outside regular trading hours (4pm - 930am). Those two hours for review of the day/research/preparation and writing down my plan for the coming trading day. Once the trading day starts my automation takes over implementing my plan, and I am not supposed to...

I think there is much selling coming in January. People are just dumping now ahead of that. Beginning of the end of the ponzi? Time will tell.

    2014: The Battle for Survival

Period Update 09/30/2017 - 12/30/2017 ---------- Good three months (+22.4K). One huge positive month of Nov, and smaller losses in Oct and Dec. For the year the P/L is 78,386 (up 64%). It has certainly been a stabilizing year for me as I continue perfecting the man-machine partnership with...

How many years are necessary to consider yourself a successful trader?

Are you talking of buy-and-hold investors or (elite) traders? There is not that kind of correlation in performance for most short-term traders that are profitable. My best year in the last 10 has been 2008. Yet we know what the market did then. There are as my strategies as there are traders...
