Which fill price would I get?

Depends what it opens at. You will get a minimum $12. If you're watching the stock an option would be to change your limit order to a limit-on-open order. That way you're guaranteed to get the opening auction price.

Any TA indicators similar to a VAMI (value added monthly index)?

VAMI is an equity curve based on monthly returns. If you plot using monthly bars on a log scale and then draw a line of best fit you effectively have an indicator. Deviation from the line will give you an idea how "linear" the equity curve is.

    Getting Started With Algo Trading

It's important to use accurate historical data which you can get from Norgate for a reasonable price. I know several people that use AmiBroker + Norgate and like it. There are AmiBroker groups out there as well that can help you get going (one example is AmiBroker-Canada.org).

www.nasdaq.com - the worst site ever

Total garbage. It's even impossible to find press releases on changes to THEIR indices.

    historical data

AlphaVantage has free intraday data for up to 500 requests per day. You won't get much history though due to the volume of data. You can get an API key on their website then download into CSV, etc.

Reporting a loss (Canada) - Carry over?

Outwest, my trading volume hasn't been excessive maybe 200 trades per year. I haven't filed a T123 as this election is only for Canadian securities and more than half of my trades are in US stocks and my more active strategies are in US stocks. The CRA rules for declaring someone a day trader...

Is this the most volatile market ever? I think so.

Not even close to 2008 or 1987. The whole period from 1997 until 2003 had heightened volatility comparable to what we're seeing these last couple of weeks.

    tsx venture traders?

A portion of my portfolio is in Canada, stocks from the TSX and Venture. I avoid the really small companies due to the illiquidity. I've had some good trades on the Venture over the last year and a half (RHT, KNT, GGI, NVO). I've found that my strategy translates well between Canada and US...

There is any tool to find stocks with largest and lowest bid ask spreads ?

You can get the bid/ask details using the Thinkorswim scanner. You can also create a custom column in the results that would give you (bid-ask). Sort by this column and voila.

Market has topped on 2019/11/07. Get the hell out now.

I've been trading my own strategies (backtested to 1995) with good results. I don't think a backtest to 2010 is long enough (it doesn't include extreme market periods like 2000 and 2008).

Market has topped on 2019/11/07. Get the hell out now.

No. I've corresponded with Brent about his composite volatility indicator and watched some of his YouTube videos. I like his approach re risk management but never pulled the trigger with a subscription.

Has anyone back tested using VIX as an indicator for going long or short the market? From what I've read it's a very poor indicator of tops and bottoms.
