    Chess

I really like this site, it has a large database of historical games and puzzles. http://www.chessgames.com/ I remember reading about Bobby Fisher, how he would wake up at 5AM and study past chess games for two hours before going to school at age 11. Ofcourse he became a grandmaster at age 16.

    Simple Profitable Method

This system doesn't backtest well, it is not suitable for 100% mechanical trading. imo I believe trader28 due to his good psychology and experience is able to make this system work. If you notice the rules are somewhat ambiguous, I don't believe the author is trying to mislead anyone, but...

    Congrats to Schindler!

Yes, congratulations Aaron on a great year! I really admire your mental fortitude and perseverance. I have been following your fund since inception and remember quite well when it hit quite a bit of turbulence couple of years ago. You were subjected to much ridicule here on ET. Great job...

    neiderhoffer

If anyone is interested in the quirky Niederhoffer, Bloomberg mag ran a fascinating six page article about him this summer. It said Vic trades SP500 as many as two dozen times a day, but only from the long side and has an assortment of interesting prop traders, a former poker champion, some...

    Basket charting software

Thanks for your reply. Quotetracker, interesting free product. I use tradestation, which i believe is not supported. For initial testing are there any free even delayed intraday data providers that would support your platform?

    Basket charting software

Is there a way to chart a basket of stocks as a single unit? So for example you have four stocks, IBM, DELL, GE, GOOG, is there a way to merge the data and produce a single chart? I believe it would be interesting to run studies on those combined charts.

What are you guys reading? I am looking for book recommendations, preferably recent books published in the last 2-5 years. Not reminiscence of the stock trader or the disciplined trader etc:) I am currently reading Barton Biggs book 'Hedghogging'. An excellent book, would highly...

    Jim Simons interview

As Mr. Simons put it - and this is about as specific as he would get - "Certain price patterns are nonrandom and will lead to a predictive effect." I wonder what he means by price patterns? Any ideas? I don't think he is running 5 Billion based on pennat breakouts. The traditional...
