    Winning percentage

what? first, it's a legitimate poll, but i have a hard time believing that anyone, no matter what strategy they employ, is shooting above 70%. i could believe the select few, but according to this poll, 49% have winning trades on 70% or MORE of there trades....no. if so, please, speak up.

    Who's got the best training?

i work at ETG and can't say the training made me profitable. it's a business where you learn by doing, though they could've done a better job on teaching tape reading. "No firm will tell you to trade small and take home positions etc." nah, they won't teach you to trade small and take home...

bloomberg terminal- worth the $$$ ??

before i got it today, i PM'd and have heard from probably over 10 people total and everyone swears by it. i hope they're right, because i just had it installed today and am locked in for six months. i can tell you that a headline came out today that said a change in Dupont's options...

How do I find stocks gapping premarket?

does firstalert give premarket indications? speaking listed, i see a bid/offer occassionally premarket, which after inspection turns out to be the indication, but the overwhelming majority of the time they are not there. redi+ gives indications, so if you set up a quote montage for 250...

    ETG group?

ok. you may be right....my point was that, if i'm paying 7-8 tenths when doing a 1.0-1.5 million, that may not be better than a firm that risks absolutely nothing on you (bright, echo, and andover for example), but for a no capital requirement deal for newbies, it's pretty good...no? maybe not...

    ETG group?

different firms suit different people, depending on their situation. the salary at first new york has to be nice, though it comes at a price - you're a slave for some other trader and you won't be trading while you're getting it. most people learn quickest by doing, not watching. hold...

    NYSE openbook traders

not really sure what you mean by it being 'speculation.' if the closest bid on open book is 10 cents below the bid, then it is either his own account he is trading for, or someone in the crowd. it's obviously not an off the floor trader, otherwise it would be on the book. if it's a large bid...

Is Bright moving to Instinet clearing?

i guess you are missing something, or actually, several things..... a) i was quoted on bright, where he mentioned ETG so i responded. b) there was a question on the features of the software, which i also responded to, and backed that up with my knowledge which stems from being at ETG (which i...

Is Bright moving to Instinet clearing?

i was a little harsh on don at the time, but the fact that he implied ETG was dropped by SLK because of financial difficulties crossed the line. redi+ still has not made a single change to their platform since i started. i'm speaking in terms of features, though they release 'updates' to correct...

    Specialists

nepotism....becoming a floor broker is a better, but not great, possibility without a connection, but not a specialist . besides, you would have to be a clerk (can still make six figures) for 8-10 years before becoming a specialist. who would want to wait that long to trade??? someone posted on...

POLL: Intraday trading.... Who scalps, who holds?

trading for beer money???? please. that's pretty narrow minded, and naive to think that your way is the only way to make money, if you're making money. maybe 300-400k a year is beer money to you, but if so, please contact http://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org/. this may be an intervention...

    Two year non-compete

a lot of the initial posts sounded like they were speaking from their own position, not yours. who are you. a newbie, inexperienced, non licensed 'prospective trainee,' who should want to avoid risking your own money, because you'll need it while you're losing money. who are those that told you...

    NYSE Openbook

up to 10 second delay.....i just checked GM, and it updates exactly every 10 seconds. for some reason TXN seemed to be less often. that said, the delay really won't affect you all that much.

    specialists are crooks

and look at what it said. ladenburg had the market 1x1 on 47.5%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! out of the entire day, ..... it took NEARLY HALF OF THE DAY'S quotes to get this fine....clearly, they do this to a lesser extent in most stocks, and on a lesser %, every day....this, so they can exploit...

    NO INSTINET in SPY

i said this in another thread...with all of the volume going to redi, it will of course, be the next to go.....and ARCA and so on....until you are left with AMEX only. pretty smart of them actually....even though total volume will nose dive, the volume on AMEX will still be above what it was...
