Why would you even close this trade out? From my limited knowledge of options, something like this should just be held to expiry, no? With a stop at 0.50 and entry at 1.87, it seems like you're saying that you're willing to lose over 70%, yet don't want to lose it all which makes no sense to...

The S&P 500 will top next at

Far too easy for you to keep talking about what could have been done. Talking about weekly trendlines is not even trading, its investing. Waiting for a major trend line to break and then going short means you're getting short soooo late into the move that you need something like 2008 all over...

What happened to this trade? I've got the SPX hitting a low of 2475.04, and since you're doing that CFD thing, the spread might have taken you out, no?

Upset Chinese investors hold hostage USGFX staff in Shanghai

Shame the update doesn't say anything about what happened to the hostage takers. The financial stuff can be dealt with later and can be sorted out in court, but conduct like this cannot be forgiven. I'm confused now because this article states that it was an office in Shanghai, but the...

Upset Chinese investors hold hostage USGFX staff in Shanghai

From the article: "Chinese investors have a penchant for get-rich-fast schemes and get very upset when it does not work, often fighting back and taking matters into their own hands." Jesus, there guys are something else. I bet that everyone in Australia would be very happy if all the Chinese...

Just noticed that ES did hit a low of 2472.00 during the overnight session. This is of course still 1 tick shy of your stop, but I do wonder how these numbers work for you given that you're using a UK broker that is doing that spread betting thing. The spread for you is I think much larger...

    Live Calls Thread.

Just to re-iterate my position on this, I don't believe that moving stops is bad. It was just in your case with the one example, you said you moved the stop 6 minutes after entry, which was fine, but you only posted that the stop increased from 30 to 60 ticks after price hit what the stop was...

    Alert services recommendations

Hahhaahahahahaha... LOlolololololol...... Lets recap here folks. This guy went on and on about how profitable he was with the ES, risking 2 points, and gaining 3. Then he complained about how it wasn't moving. Then he found the NQ all over again, even though he used to trade it years ago...

Who are the hedgers who buy stock index futures contracts?

Yes, but the idea is that you're using one of those trades as a hedge, correct? So you know that one will cost you money, but the second should make money, and that's why you do it. Its just like insurance for shipping lets say. You got a million bucks worth of stuff on the boat that you hope...

Who are the hedgers who buy stock index futures contracts?

I also wonder how these things work. If you're short stock, but long SPY ETF, there must still be a directional bet here cause one position is bigger than the other. How does the math work with hedging? If your stocks go down 10 million, how much SPY ETF long do you need and what will the...

    A Relic Trading On Feeling

Excellent, thanks. I know what you mean that going forward there should be no expectation of what happened before, but I was just asking to get a feel for where your stops and target expectations. Sometimes people claim over an 80% win rate on something like a 1:3, which would be insane. Of...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

That is crazy. If a nuclear bomb goes off and we open hundreds of points lower, then what? Where does the money come from to guarantee the stop prices? Perhaps the shop will be taking positions themselves based on what is outstanding to essentially hedge themselves?

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

So you mean if something big happens over the weekend and the futures open up on Sunday heavily down by dozens of points, your broker will pocket the loss and let you get out at your stop price even though the first print might be 20 or 30 points lower? Not criticizing, just asking because this...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

That's strange cause I don't see a print at 21567 after you said you moved your stop to scratch. Of course scratch to me means your entry level, and the lowest print I have at 16:42 eastern time is 21572, which is still 5 ticks above your entry.

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

Not in the slightest. A good trader can easily have 50% losses if not more. To get a sense for how good someone is, you need to see quite a few of their trades.

Yes please, and we can talk about how much of an asshole customer you must be with no manners given how you talk here! :D Actually, I bet in real life you're a super nice guy, probably walked all over, so you come here to be a mean prick to let it all out. Better than bottling it up I guess...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

So you had plenty of time to post about it 6 minutes after you did it, but didn't, and now you waited hours to clear it up, when once again, you could have simply said 6 minutes after you entry that the stop was moved. You obviously care since you went to this much trouble to upload...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

Once again, more bullshit. What are you gonna do, give us the equivalent of an 85 point ES stop that will take days to hit? Will this really be something you will want to stomach if it so happens you're wrong? The nonsense you want to avoid is what you caused, own up to that. You didn't put...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

I find that successful traders are humble, and yet you are showing that you are nothing but. You seem very angry, and want to put down retail traders, and I'm not sure why. Now you're admitting that you are showboating by trying to claim using a tight stop with what would have been a decent...

Trust me, I really don't care if it counts or not and I don't care where your stops or targets are. (although, I'm secretly hoping that 21507 hits, and you have to take a 60 tick stop or come up with another magical excuse) But what you're saying and doing just doesn't strike me as good...
