    why does everyone knock CNBC?

You guys must have come to the realization that this channel is not catering to traders. This is not their intended audience. Like every TV channel, CNBC is about ratings (hence, the sound-effects, graphics, the 1/100 of a second clock even though there is at least a 7 second delay from...

Market Profile -- who needs it?

Interesting opinions. Unfortunately, the point is missed that MP is not a trading system. It is a tool to help a trader determine statistically where the bulk of trading is taking place and where value may be. There is nothing specific to the market as far as tools, indicators, etc. MP, like...

Where does everyone live/trade and how old.

Back in Chicago and loving it. Sometimes one has to leave a home to know that it is where he belongs. :) I'm here just in time for Winter.

    S&P Fair value

I'm assuming you are speaking of Fair Value for the futures contract versus the cash market. In other words, you are trying to figure out where the futures should be trading relative to the current index price. That is very simple: The index price fluctuates based on the 500 stocks and their...

    Diversification in a portfolio

Interesting article on Efficient Frontier. His final statement makes my brows scrunch to the center of my face. The conclusion is obvious but not practical. Let's look at it this way. I have an investor who wishes to see a plan for investing $1MM. My returns on my own funds have exceeded the...

    Diversification in a portfolio

Hi folks, Not sure if this is the right forum or not. I'm managing a fund that is growing quite well at the moment. It contains mainly equities, a few FX positions and options. A person who wanted to add funds asked me to put together a diversified portfolio plan. After some research, I...

    Live News Service, Free

BTW, at this moment, I feel that NewsStrike provides the most consistent of all live news audio feeds. My comments on NTKN are no longer applicable, since their quality and reliability has taken a nosedive since prior management was replaced. I still believe TTN has some strides to make. It...

The Best Music To Trade To Is.......

Music is a highly personal and subjective thing. I haven't read through the entire thread, but I would take the roaring highs and soothing lows of any relevant pit squawk over any real music. Just my 1.4 cents (dollar got devalued)...

    Why does technical analysis work

I don't usually join in on discussions based mainly on opinions that are highly subjective from every angle. This is much like discussing religion: what works for some might seem insane for others. However, reading through the last 13 pages, I thought I might add a thought. In the days when I...

Cost Structure for CME Futures Traders

Seat prices will likely go up. There will be demand from those guys who can't handle trading at $4 per turn. It becomes more feasible to just own the seat. Also, with an ECM, you cannot have been a leasing or other member of the exchange. Therefore, if the ECM program goes away and one jumps on...

    Money can't buy happiness

Amazing book. I have the audio version. The only issue with this kind of reading is that the person doing the reading must be ready for these ideas. Many will look at this and say, "what the %$^&?" while it may make perfect sense for others. It makes no sense to review or read reviews of such...

Not true. ER2 can be traded under a GEM at member rates.

Traders in Virginia *if there are any besides me* :P

Probably too many factors to list here. I have always loved the DC area, but this past year has changed my mind. It is unfortunate that we haven't met. My wife's family is in the area, so I'm sure I will be back to visit. Good luck to ya.

Traders in Virginia *if there are any besides me* :P

I didn't like my stay in DC. I'm moving back to Chicago in the middle of the month. I wish you all good luck.

    S/R Emini Journal

Well, pretty much everything in trading is a gimmick other than the tape. The question: What are you comfortable with as far as a tool to organize the data? It is much like handing a spoon to someone who has never seen one. They might think it is a gimmick (they are doing fine without it)...

    S/R Emini Journal

Gary, I will try not to intrude too much on your thread with my response. I feel compelled to reply. In my opinion, discussing edge is a lot like discussing trend. There is no definitive answer. Some might say that an uptrend trend is in effect with higher highs-higher lows and point to a...

Short 68.00 and looking for 65.00. Yesterday's low is 1264.75. Market breadth keeps dropping and so does up vs. down volume on NYSE.

    S/R Emini Journal

68.25 is value low based on yesterday's volume profile. I used it as an exit for an earlier short. The trend on the 5 min is clearly down, but the first bounce off that value low was good. I'm waiting for it to hold under value to get short. Just a thought...
