I have done various combinations of Matrox, ATI, nVidia and Diamond. It is a coin toss depending on which specific card combination. A huge headache that can be easily avoided by sticking to just one chipset.

Main difference as far as trading is in the networking features of XP Pro. I don't know the details, but the tech guys in my clearing firm will not allow an XP Home based OS on their network for trading.

For trading.... XP Pro hands down. The extra functionality and facelift that Vista got doesn't do anything for your trading.

Again, I would go with 2 21" over 1 24". Gnome's suggestion makes the most sense right now with the price of 20" panels dropping like a rock. But since you mentioned 21", then I would take those over 1 24" any day.

Linksys have been rock solid for me. All wireless routers come with at least 4 ports for wired installs. It makes no sense not to get wireless and just disable the wireless feature. I avoid D-Link and SMC.
