If you can still execute orders through the supersoes, I would not use ecn's at all. Why pay all those extra fees for instant executions, when super soes is just as fast. If you are not trading through IB, those fees add up to almost 30 % of total commissions. shneed

Can someone please explain to me the rules on shorting NASDAQ stocks? For example can you hit the bids, if the last trade was a buy on the offer, or do you always have to place your order above the best bid? Thanks.

The problem with level 2 quotes right now, is that when you click on a specific price, mm, or ecn and the "buy or sell" opens up, it defaults to the amount of shares shown on the level 2 screen. Is it possible to make it so that the users defaulted amount amount appears instead? For example...

The reason it's better, is that I would rather see if its a one of the larger mm's that is buying or selling the stock or just a small regional one. Plus I can look out for that mm later on. I cannot do the same thing with an ecn on the bid or offer since I don't really know who is behind it...
