6:1 margin for overnight stock positions at InteractiveBrokers

Your inability to understand how to properly infer something is clearly not my problem; do you have any experience, do you have any real education? You have never addressed these issues. Retail portfolio margin is calculated EXACTLY as the RBH, there is nothing else. Minimum PM does equal the...

I vote for Vegas, first round is on me, but I will have to tell my wife it is some boring technical analysis convention.

IDS is an idiot, always has been always will be. He is a child with virtually no experience whatsoever. Ask him to explain the mechanics of TIMS, he throws around the term all the time but doesn't even understand it. He is still arguing a completely irrelevant point. ThinkorSwim offers MUCH...

    Thinkorswim platform: speed issue

Option Trader, Thanks for clarifying. I have traded on my wife's old laptop through an old wireless router before and I have never seen order slowness except on the rare times that the broker is having an actual problem. Did you do a ping and tracert, what are your times? Your orders should...

    Thinkorswim platform: speed issue

As in many things in life "right" is a relative term. A new computer, not an expensive one just a relatively up to date one, will help in most cases when you are doing any multitasking. It is true that my TOS software does not take up much, but if I have outlook, excel, another quote service...

Quad core doesn't support xp pro?

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2178787,00.asp Article is a few months old but the comparisons between a dual core and quad core were both done on machines with XP, so there seems to be no basis in thinking XP does not work with quad core. But that is far from answering the...

Think Or Swim and Options on Futures?

A quote from Sosnoff this morning "options on futures are coming out right after backtesting. They are scheduled for late Feb/early March." So it looks like at least a couple more months. Usually they keep pushing off deadlines as they approach, but they have been sticking with the Feb/March...

AMZN, SBUX, Fitch & S&P ratings all say down. Edit: based on my earlier post about the high, a 23.6% move on the ES is 1336.5, so we may get a bounce.

    prop firm risk control question

Each trade of each trader is watched. Depending on the firm the software can be set to not allow excessive leverage in any one instrument. Prop firms have hundreds of accounts, not thousands, so it is not that hard to keep a close eye on the handful that is most at risk. With a few mouse...

He posts his bullishness and that the market must go up; then the market immediately falls 12 points. Still batting -1000.

Thank you. This is one of the best threads on ET, whatever you can do to keep it clean is much appreciated. As to the daily chart on 11/13 it looks pretty clear that B1S2 sees yesterday as just one big up day in a clear down trend. Where we close today, and this week are important.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Japan started selling off and they kept hitting the 1343 but it just wouldn't move. I don't know who was buying thousands of contracts there, but it seems strange. When the Hang Seng opened down they ran for the hills.

I can't believe someone would not know that we were limit down at 1255.50 and thought someone was buying it, a sucker born everyday. What is interesting is there is currently an almost infinite buyer at 1343 right now. Look at time and sales, a lot of contracts have traded there and the bid...

Uncanny. He posts "up from here on out" and we instantly start falling, another 10 point move. This has got to be a record for best contra indicator.

I was hoping for a nice big bounce to short, oh well you don't always get what you want. The good news for traders is that the volatility will continue.
