Hey Hans37 are you going to be willing to take-in one of the millions of manufacturing people put out of work by a national sales tax.

A consuption tax such as a federal sales tax would never work. The rate would need to be set at 20%+ and would kill the auto and large ticket industries. It would create a huge black market and a barter society. People would simply trade goods and services to avoid tha tax.
