    zero sum game?????????????

You can take whatever view you want but once you include elements that are not part of the futures market then you are no longer just talking about the futures market and hence your conclusions become false.

    zero sum game?????????????

Perseus, do you agree that cash settled futures (ES for example) are zero-sum. I want to see if we can at least agree on that.

    zero sum game?????????????

It doesnt matter what their motives are or how the futures contracts offset other positions they may have. Those are external and are not part of the futures market. Yes a farmer can "lose" on a futures contract and still come out ahead because he was using it for hedging. He still lost money...

    zero sum game?????????????

The only thing that matters when discussing zero-sum in the future markets is the money that is exchanged for futures contracts. What you do with your farm or your corn is irrelevant as it is not part of the futures market. In the futures market, there is a dollar lost for every dollar...

    zero sum game?????????????

Futures is zero-sum period. You may be using future contracts to hedge other positions but that is irrelevent to whether futures is zero-sum because what happens outside the futures market is irrelevent when discussing the futures. It doesnt matter what the participants goals are. For every...

    zero sum game?????????????

Stock market is not zero sum. Futures and options markets are. Money does not equal wealth, do not confuse the two terms. Its spelled "Ponzi".

    Windows 2000 vs XP

As to the original question posted in the title in this thread, I can't think of a single reason to run W2K over XP unless you are so tight on system resources that XP will not run (processor not supported) or will not run well (in which case I doubt W2K will run well either).

    Windows 2000 vs XP

There is no need to do that. If there are two partitions A and B and your OS & data is on A and I boot from B (where I am an admin) then I can read everything on A without modifying anything. That's what being an admin means, the file permissions set on A will have no effect on me. I...

    Windows 2000 vs XP

Not sure what you are doing but with no encryption, if I am the administrator and have access to your partition (or drive) then I can read any file, nothing can be hidden or kept from me by way of permissions since I am now the administrator and have completely control. Perhaps the private...

    Windows 2000 vs XP

Bullshit. Why people spout crap like this is beyond me. I have nothing against loading up a machine with 2GB of ram, especially since its so cheap, but to make up numbers like this is just plain wrong.

    Windows 2000 vs XP

Not sure what you are talking about but if its NTFS encryption then I'm almost positive its available in NTFS under W2K as well. If you dont do NTFS encryption (or equivalent) then your files can be easily read by anyone who can boot the machine into another OS.

    Legalised Prostitution

I assume most transplanted organs are from dying/dead organ donors (or really good friends) so I don't think me selling mine to the highest bidder would affect any of them because I'm not planning on giving mine away for free unless I die (in fact it might help someone else by removing one more...
