    Direct access recommendation

For speed of execution, look at Laser by Genesis. It's a little dated but NASD certified and they have a good short list if that is something you need. Commissions on a retail can be as low as .0015/5-10MM per month from share one, not tiered like IB .

    DailyFX private message

It may be legit. If you look at the board over there, there is a large proportion of posts made by the mods - most of the regular posters were chased away by these new mods. Take a read and see how many moderators (last I checked, there were at least 8 different "moderators") who are posting...

    DailyFX private message

That forum has, in my opinion, become useless since the new "moderators" took over the board and erased years of informative posts by members who spent countless hours trying to help the next guy. Those FXCM mooks should be made to watch the last minute of the Sopranos over and over and over...

best prop firm to short stocks?

According to their most recent NASD filings, they use Penson exclusively for their clearing, so I guess that number is a good representation of the short list that Penson has to offer. Again, this is a Friday list and it seems rather small, like Genesis, so do lists shrink going into the weekend?

    IB vs. Oanda

I think the OP is looking for a straight-up comparison based on his needs, so I think it is a fair question. If he is looking for thin spreads, interest on his deposits, and reliable platform, a fair comparison can be made between Oanda and IB. But like rayl said, their is a distinct...

    IB vs. Oanda

IB's spreads on EUR dominated currencies range from 0-2 pips, mostly .5-1, with commish ($2 each side, less on volume) add 1/2 pip to that spread. IB pays interest only on amounts in excess of 10k. IB's platform doesn't freeze and lock you out during NFP or other news moving events.

    What is an Interdealer broker?

What is an interdealer broker? I was researching something and came upon this designation on a company's website. It seems to be more prevalent in the UK than US, so is this just another name for clearing firm? Or if different, how, and how would a company benefit by trading thru them? Thx.

Is it possible to set up own prop and borrow from banks?

To revisit this thread, what are the competent, reliable (good) clearing firms for a new BD to establish a relationship with. It seems that Penson caters its services toward the little guy, but who else is there for someone w/ less than 5MM to start? I know Bright uses GS and highly recommends...

best prop firm to short stocks?

That number is kinda low for Genesis. It is usually one or two grand higher daily. Maybe short lists shrink going into the weekend? As to GS, they are a market maker in just about every stock, so you have to believe that their numbers are greater than that already mentioned. You can pick on...

best prop firm to short stocks?

Look for anyone who uses Genesis and their Laser platform. They have access to the short list from 3 different liquidity providers, among them Merrill Lynch. While it may not be as extensive as GS (GS is the 800 lb gorilla) it is still rather impressive and changes daily...

intertrader exchange, yet GFT remains counter-party??

It appears that this type of trading stays in house and does not interact with any other liquidity providers, such as banks. From what I can interpret, this is not any ECN type trading like HotSpot, IB or EFX. And because you are trading with other GFT clients, I guess that makes GFT the counter...

    Thinkorswim FX

Spreads seem fair plus nice broadband rebate on notional volume, but still appears to be a market maker for forex. There is no mention of liquidity partners so it puts in doubt whether or not it's ECN trading. Plus the spread markup, as found in FAQs, usually is indicative of a market maker...

    Incubator Fund Service Provider

Capital Management Law and Green Trader are very familiar firms. Hannah Terhune of CML was council for Green Trader for years and developed the incubator fund program for Green. The big difference between the two firms is that one is a accountant, and one is a lawyer. Green farms out his legal...
