Always Amazed at How Thin this Game Is

Thanks man. At the end of the day it comes down to how a guy wants to trade. I am more of a base hitter/do less trades guy. You need a certain mentality to do this. Not for everyone. Is a lot of watching the markets and waiting. Seeing the opportunity and hitting the singles and doubles. Works...

Always Amazed at How Thin this Game Is

I think we are talking about 2 totally different things. When I hear the word grinder I am thinking of the trader who looks for the optimal set up(or set ups each day) and looks to take a base hit out of the market. Let's say a guy who is looking for a 2 point scalp in the ES. Sure his...

Always Amazed at How Thin this Game Is

I think there is a big difference between a guy who grinds out base hits and someone who margins the hell out of their account to make a few ticks/grinds out profits. Two completely different animals. One can base hit trades in a well funded account and not have to margin the hell out of his...

Always Amazed at How Thin this Game Is

It's funny how people think grinding it out/base hitting is not the way to go. Is boring......etc. I learned years ago that the guys who grind out base hits and are consistent last a long time. All of my buddies who were action junkies/home run hitters are all out of the business. The problem is...

Always Amazed at How Thin this Game Is

For a guy who admittedly failed as a day trader you sure do talk about it a lot. Want some cheese with that Whine ? You do realize that there are guys who scalp ES and other very liquid markets with huge size. They certainly aren't on the margin. Trading 800 lots of ES for 2 points might be...

Perhaps the best 2 word reply in the history of ET.

Finally a trade where the risk reward is in your favor Surf. Hopefully your buddy Sykes doesn't short it into the ground. Good luck with it.

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

I hear ya. But last I checked Bridgewater ran a tad bit more than 23 Mil. How many people do you need to market a 23 million dollar fund? That's like 1.73 people per million. Bridgewater runs 120 billion. Bridgewater must have some serious office space. Their Christmas party costs must be...

Really? Trying to get people on ET to buy a penny stock? You are worse than those vendors selling magic systems on here. Delete this thread dude. Your credibility is tanking at record speeds.

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

23 Million and they employ 40 people ??????? Wow. That's absurd. When we started we had a small office right off of Clematis in downtown West Palm. Was a nice building, but we kept the office space small. Were a few other smaller start up funds in there as well. We kept it mean and lean...

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

At the end of the day if you look at where the most money is allocated it's Einhorn, Simons,Cohen,Dalio,Tudor....and on and on. These guys have pretty low volatility. As far as running a fund and raising money? I worked for a new CTA/Fund back in 2004. The fund manager came from SAC and has...

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

I agree there are a few instances, very few (Hunter, LTCM guys) who do get big backing after blowing up. But.....on the whole it's very rare, especially in the last 10 years or so. The question raised on this thread was where does most of the money go? The answer is to the lower volatility...

I'll take "Surf did not raise a dime after his blowout" for 500 Alex.

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

He/She is an annoying idiot. Their posts are so bad even I barely respond. That speaks volumes as I reply to just about anyone. I don't have any problem dealing with the poster, it's just a colossal waste of time. The fact that you call him a character is a huge tell. It's obvious what's goin...

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

Stop with that paper trading site. Seriously. Now we are ranking bloggers. That holds no credibility. I have never met a paper trader who loses money. Your calls on here have been less than stellar. And I'm being real nice.

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

That is funnier then you leading people to "the truth". Anyone actually trading your calls would have gotten massacred over the years. It's been a disaster Surf. Maybe he faded your calls. That would make a whole lot more sense.

He's obviously either you or a good friend who you put up to posting. Whoever it is, it's very weak. You should stop it. Doesn't make you look very good.

So You Want To Be A Modern "Trader": Here Are The Requirements

Man I must be getting old. Their after work activities include cooking, whirleyball, ping pong......candy poker day ????????? Man times have changed. Half the shit we used to do after trading hours was borderline illegal. Ok....not borderline. If I suggested candy poker day I would have had...

So You Want To Be A Modern "Trader": Here Are The Requirements

Wow. They had me at Dumpling Making Class. I can tell the guy on the left is a Ten year Note Spoofer. He's copying the guy in the middle. Huge tell in the land of the spoofers.

So You Want To Be A Modern "Trader": Here Are The Requirements

Not for nothing, but this guy was spoofing in the copper market? His insane. That is not a market I would want to be caught offsides in. I would imagine he could easily have been picked off spoofing a few hundred lots. Good luck getting out of that when copper gets moving.
