So You Want To Be A Modern "Trader": Here Are The Requirements

I remember stories about this guy when I traded in Chicago. I knew a few guys at Gelber. Heard some crazy shit about the way he traded.Unfortunately for traders like him, with the ways the authorities are going after spoofers, those days are soon basically over. This article pretty much sums up...

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

Do blow out artists get 2nd chances from time to time? Yes. Look at Brian Hunter. He actually got a job as an advisor to a fund after imploding Amaranth. It can happen once in a while. But the question here was where does most of wall streets money go to. The answer, the exact opposite of what...

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

I will reply to your other post from your alias on here as well. Why waste the real estate when it's you/your wife/your co worker. At the end of the day Surf, you have nobody fooled. It's you replying through them. Just post under Marketsurfer and not two other sock puppets. The timing of your...

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

So you are admitting I'm right Surf. Wall street does not allocate large amount to high risk takers. Case closed.

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

Yes, Tudor probably took bigger risks years ago. But things were a lot different back in the 80's. Look at his returns now, all single digit months. I'm sure in the 80's and early 90's some of these now huge traders did take more risk, but they were trading tiny AUM compared to now. No way in...

    How to be patient

I have been using the DOM forever. When trading on a chart started I stayed away. I had a buddy who made a mistake and ended up with buy orders everywhere. Not for me. I agree with you 100% on trading the first 2-3 hours of RTH. Especially these days as most of the days volume occurring in the...

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

Einhorn, SAC, Simons,Tudor,......and on and on. These guys are basically base hitters (which considering the AUM they control they have to be) and attract all the big money. Blow up artists and home run hitters/strike out artists like VN never really get any AUM. Been like that forever. Look at...

Investing can be gambling or risky as trading

You mean he was wrong about sell offs having low volume? Es only did like 50 million contracts on Aug 24th. I would have given him one more chance since he posted the Motorhead video......but I'm like 1 step from being tossed outta here myself by a certain mod....who am I to talk.

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

You do realize that the funds with the biggest AUM are the ones with the least volatility. Has been that way for a long time. Go and take a look at a list of the biggest blow ups and see what those PM's are managing now. Little to nothing. For a hedge fund expert you sure don't seem to know much.

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

Actually the exact opposite is true. Take a look at the volume in the stock market/stock futures during "bear periods". The volume is usually double or more.

    Hedge-fund prodigy takes a $300 million hit

I would imagine that down the road the 2/20 payout structure for these big funds will go down to something like 0/10. They all do fine when the market is quiet/rising, but when you have a sell off you see gigantic draw downs. These guys make 1-3% on a good month when things are quiet, then you...

Prop Trading Education Now Available for Retail Traders

I traded in Chicago for 10 years, and knew of some very big traders at ITG. Anyone with that experience in their pedigree surely is qualified to do what you guys are doing. The fact that you guys aren't selling some magic trading system with a 95% win rate is a huge positive. Good luck with...

I have bought Al Brooks' Trading Course

Coming from the king of paper traders himself. Priceless. Actually Surf I most likely won't get to one of your meetings down here. You have annoyed me to Defcon 5. Great job dude. You annoyed yet another long time member enough to leave here.

Add equity to beaten-down prop acct, or start fresh somewhere else?

I would take everything volpunter said to heart. He makes a ton of great points. You seem like a good guy, but taking an equity account to -84% is even worse than doing it with futures because equities are far less leveraged. Seems like you are aiming towards the high fliers (TSLA...NFLX)...

Add equity to beaten-down prop acct, or start fresh somewhere else?

Absolutely would not add money to the account. A 75% draw down from trading is a massive one. Hopefully you are on the right track now and doing less and less dumb things. But I would definitely not add money. Trade very small the rest of the year until your expiration is up. If between now and...

    The Daytrader Stigma

I too am trying to not use the ignore feature. Plus with guys like Surf it doesn't matter. Their bullshit is spewed everywhere and gets requoted when other guys call him out. He is like a 14 yr old kid starving for attention, they will do anything. He brings nothing to ET except clogging the...

    The Daytrader Stigma

Wow a rolex and a corvette. You must have crushed it. Are you sure it was 1992 and not 1972 ? A frigging Corvette and you were called egocentric ????? Wow....that is beyond hilarious. You do realize the money people made in the mid 90's trading right ? A corvette ??? Please stop. This...

    The Daytrader Stigma

That trading was RIDICUOUSLY easier back then. As you later learned when you failed. Those who actually had skill lasted. Actually Surf, you aren't still standing. You tried day trading and got obliterated. Like the other guys on here who also failed. But they moved on, while you keep blabbing...

    The Daytrader Stigma

Why, someone as yourself who admits they don't/can't day trade, do you continuously knock day trading and those who make a great living doing it ? You claim you aren't anti-day trading, but yet you pop all over ET trying to bash it. You do realize this is a trading site correct? Congrats on...
