We need to start building again.

You could say that about residential housing, but there's a lot of office, retail, manufacturing buildings that are empty because of a stagnant at best economy. We do need to be building again, and we need to build not more building but more companies. We need to help entrepreneurs as much...

"I thought getting a job would be a snap"

You might not know, but most of those Indian programmers have no idea what they are doing. Many companies have to recode the work they outsource to India. Software development is quite hard, hence why you need very competent people doing it; it's not like flipping burgers.

"I thought getting a job would be a snap"

If I remember correctly, many of those top schools offer loan forgiveness if you do public/non-profit work.

"I thought getting a job would be a snap"

It's definitely a food stamp recovery when even Ivy League people can't get jobs.

Day Trading Is A Dead End Job

As someone who used to own a business, I can tell you that being an entrepreneur is much harder than trading. Trading you are competing against the market. It's very hard, no argument. With a business, you competing against any number of businesses, taxes, regulations, all the problems with...

What's the Main Impediment to Getting a Job in US?

I hear you, and I wish I could provide some great insight. You'll never change human nature. You can possibly reduce your risk. You could take the temporary agency/independent contractor route and screen people that way, and hire when someone works out. You could only hire people who currently...

What's the Main Impediment to Getting a Job in US?

I can speak to this as a former entrepreneur. 1) Costs, head count and payroll are usually your biggest expense. If you add benefits to that, then you better have serious cash flow going on. 2) When you hire someone, lots of regulations on what type of workplace you have to provide...

Why do 95% of retail traders lose?

+1000 -- Great words; this is what makes America great!

Why do 95% of retail traders lose?

Before trading, I was an entrepreneur. Businesses have a failure rate of 65-70 percent if you push the timeframe to about ten years. People throw around the 90% failure rate for businesses, which isn't really true, so I don't know where people get this 90% failure rate for traders. I can tell...

Boehner’s Views on Economy Contradicted by Studies

Um, okay. You can look at Portugal and Greece to see what happens when you get way too much debt that it calls into question whether you can pay it back. We're not getting hit yet, but it could come at any time, especially if the country heads into a double dip recession. As to the 90s tax...

Lifeguards in CA make 200k a year

Problem is that many conservatives just don't have the nasty, all out war personality that the left has. You could see the difference between the mostly civil tea party protests and the insanity that happened in Wisconsin, anti-war/bush rallies. It makes sense because the GOP comes from the...

Lifeguards in CA make 200k a year

While it's shocking, there are lots of people in CA with pensions making six digits a year doing nothing. At some point liberals might wake up because these pensions/salaries are eating up all the money that could be going to their social programs and other causes.

    Women and Unemployment

It's that and shows like Sex and the City and Gossip Girl basically devalue and degrade the traditional mom role and instead build up being a cosmopolitan woman, ie a slut. I never thought there would be things like "slut walks" but that's where society is at the moment.

German magazine Spiegel:Greece could reintroduce its own currency

Just imagine how strong the Euro would get if Portugal and Greece, maybe Ireland, left voluntarily. Why should Germany et al even care if the weakest links stay; just as long as they're still part of the EU.

Which Republican Candidate will be best for our economy?

There's not a single good one out there. I turned off the fox news debate. Right now, it's who's the best of the worst, Romney, Pawlenty. Still waiting for a White Knight to come in.

    Marriage, just don't

Agree completely. Marriage is only as good as the people involved. It only makes sense to marry traditional Catholics, Evangelicals or conservative Protestants/Jews. Problem is those women get married very young and it's hard to find those good, single women out there, as someone else noted earlier.

    Marriage, just don't

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't prenups get set aside quite a bit. I think judges have the right to set them aside if they're unconscionable. So if you get a female judge, which is likely, she might judge the terms unfair and take you to the cleaners. Also, I've heard that if you make a lot of...

    Marriage, just don't

It's a hard question. Marriage under the right conditions is wonderful and leads to children, which is even better. But many women today are much more fickle, self-centered, materialistic, non-feminine/family oriented, slutty, etc. Then as noted by the other commenters, there isn't the fidelity...

Canada Seen Rebounding as Currency of Choice in Harper Mandate

Harper is a good, competent guy; major kudos to his victory. Now if only the GOP could find someone similar, we'd be in good shape for 2012.
