Unbelievable but true: CFTC declares Technical Analysys as FRAUD :D!!!

Yeah okay dbphoenix. LOL! I am almost 60 years old and have been trading since 1981 fulltime. I have put my children through college at major private universities, have a 4000 sq ft home in Vail, along with my home here. Neither are mortgaged. I trade now because I enjoy it. And I did that by...

Unbelievable but true: CFTC declares Technical Analysys as FRAUD :D!!!

While I edited the bulk of your post JT, you are right on the money. In the case of a movng average, it is reversion to an ever-changing mean. This is exactly the premise behind using a single moving average as a trigger. Understanding that the average is the mean and that price will deviate...

Unbelievable but true: CFTC declares Technical Analysys as FRAUD :D!!!

You are missing the point. A moving average is derived from price and therefore follows price, but it also will act as a barrier to price because it is widely followed. Any stock chart will demonstrate this. Of course your eyes are stuck on the NQ so you might not see it. You are a fan of...

Unbelievable but true: CFTC declares Technical Analysys as FRAUD :D!!!

And when price pulls back to a popularly followed average, finds support, and rallies... is this the average following price? No.

    Understanding the Squawk

one eighty two even would be 481.80 bid, 482.00 offered. He will just say the last whole number most of the time and then every 30 seconds or so say the entire price. 42 bid cloe is full of possibilities without hearing it myself. Is he saying 482.00 bid, locals... meaning no size... or if...

How many girls have you picked up?

LOLOL! Gee Fin, where is it you hang out.... pun intended, that you can "pull out the package" as a means of communication and not go to jail?

    Understanding the Squawk

You are just this close to understanding it TGregg. It works better if you are watching the price at the same time. First the proper way in the Spoo pit is "bid price on size, size at ask price" If the contract is 976.80, you might yell 75 bid on 20, and I might yell back 20 at 85. You are...

    What supported the market, 6-9

Avalanche I am not sure about your question because my quoted reply refers specifically to the daily 13 period ema.

    What supported the market, 6-9

Which brings up a good point. I am sure visually that the 10, 11, 12, 13, etc ema's all looked like support. Unless you are doing cycle analysis with offsets, close enough will do. But sticking to the more popular averages will serve you well, and I'd guess that the 10 is more popular than the...

    What supported the market, 6-9

I only use ema's on futures because that's what the futures guys do. And on futures the 13 pema is fairly common. On my charts then, the daily 13 period ema for NQ03M was support.

Unbelievable but true: CFTC declares Technical Analysys as FRAUD :D!!!

Why this concept escapes the market efficiency discussions here on ET has always confused me. Market efficiency is all about the current price reflecting "all publicly available information," whether known or anticipated. That is it. Nothing more.

Is your QChart data unusually slow today?

My feelings exactly on both points spreadem. I get frustrated enough with the spits and spurts throughout the day and those few pennies mean virtually nothing to me. I cannot imagine trying to scalp or trade from less than the 15 min chart using this package. Thanks for clarifying your point...

Is your QChart data unusually slow today?

No problems on the upgrade to 4.3 addict. I would call the tech support. Good luck with it.

Is your QChart data unusually slow today?

I've been trading for 20 years so I remember the days way before the internet. And I'm not looking for nickles and dimes either so the delays are more of an annoyance than anything else. In fact it has been a well-known fact for MORE than "the last couple of years" that Q's data feed is poor...

    What constitutes a down day?

Thanks trader 42, however I think I haven't been clear enough with the question. Perhaps a recent example will better illustrate my question.... you know, a picture and a thousand words, etc. On Wednesday last week, SLB gapped open significantly lower, found the low almost immediately and...

    trader tricks

No, but it is widely true that the urge to post and make fun overwhelms many ET members. Never base the worthiness of your posts from the quality of responses you get. Specific tape-reading techniques are not shared too frequently here. Although I prefer to trade the longer term, I am not...

    Getting filled short

I used to trade with IB and enjoyed flash fills thru TMBR. No waiting to find out etc. Now for size reasons, it is less expensive commission-wise to pull the trigger thru Ameritrade who uses Trimark. I follow my orders on the T/S and notice how long it takes to cancel, how long it takes to get...

When does a flag trigger a buy for you?

As you know, a properly drawn pattern contains the price action within. Sometimes a very early minor penetration is allowed, but if a penetration occurs later in the pattern without closing outside the pattern, then the pattern needs to be redrawn. If you think about it, the amount you give...

    Getting filled short

I put my price in below the bid price... usually 3-4 cents.... and use a limit order. In this way I am telling the MM or Spec that I want this price or better, and the order is "activated" on the first uptik. However, I am not looking for a few cents or a couple of tiks per move so giving up a...
