    Commissions on Options Trades

Whether you use Goldman, IB or most others, if you have an order of that size, it will be shopped around. There are many groups, institutions, etc that will all be called with the order no matter what broker gets it. IB has the same numbers on speed dial as the other brokers. The person who...

    Commissions on Options Trades

So you are saying that you were paying 20 to 30 cents per option contract since you added that you needed to multiply by 100? Plus exchange fees? Plus regulatory fees? Plus OCC fees?

Are you saying you were paying 1-2c per option contract?

    Option spread execution

Your best bet is putting it in as a spread. From watching the SPX condors in the COB they are generally filled within .10 of 'fair value", sometimes less. I think if you leg the spread, you have more risk. Definitely don't put a market order in on one side.

    Option spread execution

I was merely pointing out the fact that IB charges extra for exchange fees in the SPX (the product the OP originally asked about). In terms of fills, if an order is sent to the SPX weekly, the condors would be sent to the CBOE's electronic spread book (the COB) so I would expect the fills to be...

    Option spread execution

TOS option fees are "all in" They don't add more for exchange fees like most brokers. So if you are trading proprietary products such as VIX SPX OEX which charge exchange fees, you get a savings vs trading these products with IB.

Risk in holding conversions/reversals to expiration?

Dont think that is true Bob. If that was the case the MM would just load up on reversals and pocket the hard to borrow premium.

Do out of the money, VIX calls result in bid 0 ask 5 cents?

The last day to trade the Vix options is today. They are cash settled based on the VIX indexes settlement print tomorrow morning. This is based on the opening prices of the March SPX options. If you have any position in these options your fate rests solely on this mark.

    Market Order obligations

Since the VIX is single listed at the CBOE, it must be filled there. My guess is your broker sent your order to its floor broker instead of filling it instantly on the market electronically. This would allow the floor broker to potentially work the order for a better fill. The problem is if...

Anyone with good choices for daytrading options

Take a look at the SPXW's (the weekly SPX options). Note that they wont be trading this week as it is expiration in the regular pit traded SPX (which has incredibly wide markets)

    VIX ETF/Futures/Options Discussion Thread

Interesting. So you're saying that there will be a book on the futures butterfly itself? I have been trading VIX futures time spreads as spreads for awhile, but never realized that they had butterflies as well. How would you input the symbols to pull up this market? Currently to get the...

WIDE bid ask SPREAD, can I neutralize this for no loss?

Ogarbitrage is right, this is the easiest solution. Notes for the future, If this is a hard to borrow stock, you may/will be assigned early. There is NO reason to put on this position. You can replicate it by simply selling the same strike puts instead of doing the buywrite you have...

    Which exchanges can handle spreads

    1) Both A and B and also customers such as myself who are looking for spreads in the COB. The CBOE lists spreads on their web site as do some trading programs. 2) The C2 and CBOE are technically different exchanges, both having a COB

    Which exchanges can handle spreads

Too add, the spread can also "auto trade" with the markets on the screen in the individual legs.

    IB close different from NYSE

The S&P 500 futures stay open until 3:15 (CT). After 3:00 these futures rallied almost $5, which would represent an almost .50 "after hours" rally in the SPY between 3 and 3:15

    Weekly Option Assignment?

I would also add that if the stock is hard to borrow, this increases the chance of early exercise. For a non dividend play, easy to borrow stock, it is extremely unlikely you will be assigned early
