In the cases where you prefer execution over price, what orders do you prefer and why: - market order - "marketable" limit order (ie for a buy, send at a price at or above best ask) Just list the conditions/situations or state your cases if your answer is "it all depends". Thank you. :D :D

Yes, it is a bit hard to follow our trades. How good Oanda is? Will it do anything evil like other forex market makers do? (I've heard many bad stories about spot forex). Thanks for your sharing.

    IB F#@%* service!

Sometimes their answers are rude, sometimes not. Unlike the local bank staff, their overall customer services are not generally bad. But I'm impressed when (nearly) everything can be done through online, their real-time chat and inquiry ticket system. Inconsistent info. Yes, but it happens...

================= Q: Excuse me! Do you offer stock shorting? A: Most frequent responses: - Man! It's illegal! - what's the hell is it? - Sorry! No way! - Yes, but you have to buy first before shorting. (Oh no! ) ================== You get the idea now. :(

However HSI futures has low volume. That means you can't trade big, or your order will move the prices (costs).

IB commissions for low priced stocks

I trade around $10 up stocks. Is IB a good option then? What other firms can I consider if I trade lower-priced stocks?

Why did IB do so poorly in this businessweekonline.com rating

After all, most of the top firms appear not to be direct-access firms.

Why did IB do so poorly in this businessweekonline.com rating

How do they get these figures? What do all these mean: - Price Improvement - Limit Order Fill Rate I don't really understand the behind logic. I may be too igorant, but isn't it true that, all these depend much on the market? AFTER the order is sent to the exchange, the broker has...

I don't think you should settle that loss. It is because the settlement cost (commission + slippage) is higher than the interest incurred.

    HK online brokerage

What a shame. HK brokerage needs a reform! But do you know why they are so awful? You need understand their local market first. Most traders (should I call them traders?) in Hong Kong don't even have some of the most basic clues to trade. Many "traders" don't even know what "stops" are, or...

Why MARKET order can be filled at a price worse than price quote?

I see. The situation I refer to is the best offer is 0.25. When I send the order and to the market, it is still 0.25 (no change occurs. The offer is still there). However for some unknown reasons, it is filled at 0.26 or 0.27! I don't mind if when the order reached the market, 0.25 order...

Why MARKET order can be filled at a price worse than price quote?

No. Market order is supposed to be filled at the best possible prices offered in the market, but not any price like $0.30 even if the market is doing $0.25.

What's the general strategy for people on this forum?

Sometimes good stocks just don't go up. It's the reality. The only good stock is the stock which is rising, nothing more, nothing less (It can be falling if I'm shorting). Do you raise your stop-loss? You will see there's no sub-forum named "Fundamental Analysis", while there's a...

Is someone trying to rip off my IB account?

If in doubt, one should call IB directly. This is the fastest and surest way to get the right answer. Also I never click on any link. A link can be spoofed and the hacker can bring you to another URL (but you don't notice). If you do wish to take a look, either type the URL yourself, or...

What's the general strategy for people on this forum?

No, this is not the place for you. Anyway, we don't think long-term investment is the way to go. It's not really a good idea in my humble opinion. If the security falls to 10%, do you stop-loss? How about 30%? How about 50%? Still keeping it since it's a long-term investment. It's the...

Why MARKET order can be filled at a price worse than price quote?

Yes, there are many options. Too many that I don't see some of their practical differences. Something like MTL and Mkt with protection, sweep-to-fill orders
