I am a new trader, I want to start trading

Risk Management should be your first priority. Trading is a never ending war. Every trade is a battle. Be prepared to lose several battles but don't become so wounded that you lose the war.

Want to start part time but can't because of registration with Finra

This is common practice among the financial firms. I was lucky enough to be able to still trade when I was a T. Rowe Price. However, we were not allowed to trade (only for investment)TROW without permission. One guy I worked with was trading about a mil a month in various stocks and they...

    Overnight Margin

Based on my research the average seems to be 4:1. Call a few and ask. Wanting to hold overnight will probably require more upfront $$ and some do not allow it at all.

    Best way to hedge

Chuck, Be careful bud. Trying to cover 60 stocks when (if) the markets turn around is going to be painful. If you have some good profits already I would consider reducing your short exposure to 20 stocks or less and keep only the ones you feel most confident about. You could use a...

    2011: Rebuilding My Battered Account

Neke, I've been reading your results and I am COMPLETELY rooting for you but take your system and throw it the closet for a few months. It's not working. You can't tweak your system for irrational 500 pt daily swings can you? Based on the fundies the entire market is oversold. However with...

What to look for in a Prop Firm?

I agree. I don't think the fees are too bad. Don, Why do some firms have the 1 yr lock up and some don't? I was under the impression this was a SEC rule that applied to all firms.

New day trader, any help appreciated!

Here is the fee schedule for Broad Street. Not including platform or trading fees. I c&p from the my thread "what to look for in a prop firm" You 'll need the Series 56. Broad Street offers options with 5k. They seem to have a lot of fees. Here they are. Is this about average for a firm...

New day trader, any help appreciated!

What to look for in a Prop Firm?

I really don't write options unless I put on a spread or leg into a long. I need the leverage to trade around my options using the underlying. I may spend only 500 to 1.5k on options just as a partial hedge in a given month. Broad Street offers options with 5k. They seem to have a lot of...
