    Globex CL vs CL

No, the pit and globex use the same contract. http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/energy/crude-oil/light-sweet-crude_contract_specifications.html

    Trader P/L 2012

$45.87 net profit. Should've been playing the range whole day instead of waiting for a breakout. Either way, very slow day and perfectly fine with not having a down day.

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Bhardy is not trading futures. I don't understand why this is hard to comprehend. He uses the UK arm of fxcm, and they let their users trade gold and oil for miniscule amounts. It isn't something I would do as I assume you are trading against fxcm in those markets. Any good, consistently...

    HFT myths and reality

No, they won't. The grass is always greener on the other side. Like the article says, people use to complain about the specialists and now complain about hft. Bitter traders that lose will always blame it on something too.

    Lease seat / Co-locate

Well the way I am reading it, the ability to waive buying/leasing a seat ended in 2008. That is why I'm confused about it now.

    Lease seat / Co-locate

Has something changed? This is what I got off the CME site itself: CME Rule 106R ECM –Volume Incentive Program (CME ECM-W) have a waiver of the membership holding requirement (through 12/31/08) but it must meet certain volume trading requirements on a quarterly basis (i.e. it must trade an...

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

To day trade oil, it is normally around 2k margin. Overnight margin I believe is around 6.5k off the top of my head. With her profitability, she could stash away another 10k in the account to be safe. I don't know her living situation of course, but I like taking the most I think I can take from...

    Lease seat / Co-locate

I'd say you'd probably be paying at least 6k per month to do this. 10k doesn't even seem like a far off number to me. Leave hft to the big boys.

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Your broker isn't a futures broker. Futures contracts are so much larger than anything you are trading atm. Every cent in oil is worth $10 for a normal oil contract. If you could pull 250-300 a day with 1 of your contracts, then I would say prove it.

    Lease seat / Co-locate

Can't help with the co-location stuff but lease prices are here: http://www.cmegroup.com/company/membership/membership-pricing.html#pricingType=1 . Just go to the window and switch from member prices to lease prices. Go here,http://www.cmegroup.com/company/membership/types-of-membership.html ...

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Her claims are not ridiculous. I'm not quite sure why she has never bumped up her size to even 2-3 contracts. I don't think that would ruin her edge, but I guess she is very content where she is. Remember every oil contract is 100 barrels of oil. That means at the current price, the contract...

To use or not to use? (Stops)

Over time, you will get a feel for when your stops are likely to get hit or not. Almost all my trades I will get out of before a stop is hit. I think a stop should definitely always be placed just in case of some power outage, emergency happens, or some random news event that might screw your...

Whatever helps you is something you should do, but it sounded like you were putting it in the negative. Still though I don't think you can debate him.

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

No, in trading I do not value $100 more than $5. If you value money too much, you make less money. If you haven't noticed, common sense doesn't help in trading all the time, as there is a reason the vast majority are unprofitable. If you do, your account will reach a certain size, and you will...

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Which is exactly why I said scared money doesn't make money. It is a fear issue. You just said you couldn't replace 500k, so you would be scared to lose it. I also don't see how having less money means you should be more risky with it. This isn't being the small stack in a poker game. If you 1k...

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Depends what you trade. It is that type of thinking that limits a person's ability. Why is 500k harder to quadruple than 10k? If it is only about liquidity, ES and 10yr note have more than enough liquidity to make you rich or ruin your account in a day. Scared money doesn't make money, and I...

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Okay, so your average loss when you first started that mini account is 10%. Would you be willing to do that same risk at 10k? At what point do you lower that risk tolerance? You can't continually risk 5-10% of your account per trade and be consistently profitable as a day trader imo. You will...

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Would anyone here honestly want to make a living trading while keeping their account at 10k? That seems extremely stressful and if you have a few bad missteps, you are done. Making 50k a year trading is not a good salary. If you are consistently profitable, you should be doing over 100k easy...

    Futures: Most margin & Commission

Why would they need to lease both tt and cts? Also, I'm not doubting that you have some larger clients. The futures business is quite large full of big money.
