Can't bring myself to leave my job.

You never know, it migth not be the trading money, but it could be the stock options you are allocated from those tech co's you work for that will make you rich. Chances are, if you throw your degree away, you will regret. Of course, you could be the next Bill Gate in trading ...:-)

Can't bring myself to leave my job.

Thanks for this. I made a mistake letting my friends and family know about my trading, and the kinda of money I was making. All of a sudden I was invited to all kinds of party. People looked at me differently. They treated me nicely because they think they could get stock tips from me. And when...

Can't bring myself to leave my job.

Amen to this. Unless you have 2 million bucks to start. I don't see a stable income to trading to sustain a stable life. If you are single forever, no commitments, the only monthly bills you have to pay for is $200 in food, $50 internet, $200 gas, used beat up car doesn't cost much in...

I'm a victim of serious online fraud at brokerage

Give TD water house the link to this thread and tell them that people on this forum will be sreading the words. People will be transfering out from TD WaterHouse. They will be losing a lot of money. You should also go to local media to give them the full story. Looks like TD is not...

I'm a victim of serious online fraud at brokerage

If the order didn't come from your computer, the Brokerage Firm should have the IP address recorded. But then, they could argue that it was you who used a PC at a cybercafe to make the transactions.

I'd say we all spread the words, and start a boycott. TD Waterhouse should be blacklisted.

How did you save up enough to trade?

if 9 out of 10 gamblers use about 5K to trade for a living and end up feeding their money to the bigger more experience fish, I'd say "I am very sure they will lose." I don't know any "right methodology" call for 5K to start with. And I don't care about any P/L Journals online. Anything...

How did you save up enough to trade?

Please read tomhaden's comment above. Don't say something like "you can start with as little as 2-5K and make a nice living ..." If will mislead a lot of younger wannabies out there.

How did you save up enough to trade?

If I trade, I would save enough to 160K, put all in an account, and trade only with 40K (80K with margin), the other 120K saved in a second account. I would fast trade with the 40K account, and when the time is right, I will know when it's right, use the other 120K to buy and hold for...

    Another one hangs it up

Plus, Most star athletes starts out young. they played from childhood through college and by the time the finish college, they already have years of experience. Traders, by the time we start, we already have tons of commitment to worry about as adults.

    Another one hangs it up

I think comparing athletes with traders, and trading vs Sport, is comparing apples and orange. :-) You can play a good game and lose, and replay another game the next day . People hire you to play for money only they can "certify" that you are at certain level. You got to have real skills...

    Another one hangs it up

Amen. It can't be better than this. Unless you have a million dollars and can set aside 100K to trade, don't quit your day job. What's the point of living under means for so many of your best years (youth and all), just to have enough equity to trade ? Keep your day job, and retire with it ...
