    SCALPERS - Any around?

Hi rts, I haven't traded es or nq extensively, but the few times I've tried, I've found them difficult to trade -- well, except for the no brainer super-rally or selloff days. :-) What sort of profit objectives do you use with them? And stop-loss? Do you use stop orders? They seem...

    January Trading Journals

I definately like thinner stocks -- something that trades maybe 400,000 to no more than maybe 1.5 million shares per day. They are MUCH easier to read, at least for me. On the "thicker" stocks, you can't look at the tape as much, and have to focus more on charts, it seems.

    IB routing to PRIMEX

Hey, maybe they can make a special route called "WORST" that routes to Primex. :-)

    IB Routes to NX ?

Sort of. The main thing wrong with what you wrote above is was " Direct+ isn't used to get faster fills if I happen to match something in the "book," because it is done electronically.". The matching only happens when the specialist says it's ok to let it happen -- i.e., he declines his...

    IB Routes to NX ?

Okay: Re: 1) NYSE Direct+ is NOT an ECN. Just a special way of submitting orders sent to the NYSE. Re: 2) Your take on #2, above, is correct. Re: 3) Number 3 is basically a marketing thing. Pretend nobody wrote that. If it stays with direct+, it will be executed right away, thus no...

    IB Routes to NX ?

Replying to my own post, you can't sned more than 1 order on the same side of the market in the same stock more than once every 30 seconds. I suppose that's to stop you from programming your software from jumping on a 5000 share offer with 5 quick 1000 share bids. *shrug*

    IB Routes to NX ?

I was told by IB that anytime an order is routed to NYSE (either by choosing it explicitly, or when chosen by IB software via BEST), that if the order is 1099 shares or less, it is sent via Direct+. Direct+ at NYSE checks the order at time of receipt. If it is not marketable, it is passed to...

    IB Routes to NX ?

1- If my NX, you mean "Limit-NX", as offered on REDI+, then yes, it is the same as NYSE Direct+. For Direct+, check out: http://www.nyse.com/pdfs/NYSEDirect.pdf

    IB Improvements (Part 2)

Two things, regarding order entry and open order display. 1- When you trade somewhat illiquid issues, you may sometimes have a wide market. Example: a preferred I was buying Thursday or Friday had a market of something like 69.90 / 70.30. When I click on the offer of 70.30, to place a bid...

    Best Strategy on QQQ

Well this much is true at least. Everyone, no matter what their experience, must do a size that they are comfortable with. That is, a size whereby they do not feel significant emotional attachment to the result. Even the biggest and best will have a size that scares the heck out of them, and...

    IB Routes to NX ?

Yes, it is automatic. If order is routing to NYSE and is 1099 shares or less, it is done.

    REDIPlus

Agreed -- REDI+ charting is worthless. Fills okay. No listed ECN trading during regular market hours. :P

    Specialist rapes his own mother

Well that could certainly be. 2000 was a record year for almost everyone in any sort of trading. NYSE OpenBook is one of a few bones they've thrown recently to keep the NYSE in business and in a large marketshare position. Basically, the NYSE wants to keep things the status quo as much as...

    Tradestation IB DDE link

REDI+ has dde for quotes and average price, but I don't think any historical data. They've got a reasonable active-x interface for placing orders too.

    Option Liquidity

I do not have the official scoop, but I think IB only sends price updates once per second.

    crazy nq-move

Hi All, I was waiting almost all day to get on this board and see if anybody mentioned this nice 10:02am (central/Chicago) spike in the NQ. If I read through the rest of this thread, I'll probably see that somebody else already said this, but I'm going to write first. :) This spike was...

I just talked to a CQG sales rep a few days ago who told me that they did not have any HK data yet. Was it just a beta?

SciTrader, Does CQG do Hong Kong as well? Do you know of a decent package with charting and time & sales for Hang Seng futures and mini futures? Thanks.
