Yes, but in your example, IF the trades cause the price to move, you will "see" the price movement faster on the tick chart since more bars will have closed vs. the volume chart which might include the entire price movement in one bar - instead of across a number of bars - thus your indicator...

The volume chart is based only on volume - so the price "moving" wouldn't have any effect on the bars created based on volume. Totally depends on the number of contracts traded.

You don't - just as you didn't really know that a tick chart was "showing the aggressor in the transaction". Neither type of chart shows you any of that.

Guy - Why do you assume that "big money" who wants to buy 100 contracts right now always does so with a single order for 100 contracts and not 50 2 contract orders - or some other combination thereof?

QCharts shows a/h activity also - or at least it used to. Check the "all sessions" box.

I don't know if it matters or not - however, if you use the closing price in any calculations then I guess it *should* matter - you want to use the "right" one, don't you? :D

I haven't really noticed where they typically open post-eom settlement. However, you will often see people complaining that the +/- from the previous day is incorrect because they are basing it off the :15 close and not the actual settlement, which is the value used to calculated the +/- the...

The closing price and the actual settlement price are usually a few points different (by "fair value") because of the end-of-month settlement procedures - see this link for more info: http://www.cme.com/prd/eq/fairvaluefaq2544.html This happens at the end of every month.

Thanks BDT for the clarification. Just to make sure - you do realize that most of the questions are not specifically about the trading in the room - they are about the trading results posted on your website for each day - and how those results were calculated.
