there's a guy named Moulin, he's a Rouge trader. Look out for him...he'll be standing in the back of that press conference, I'm sure of it. He's crafty....

What a beautiful 3yr note auction today

a weak b/c is really no big deal if it was expected to be weak. You have to look at the big picture to see what the demand is for a series of auctions, if there are others that week, and what the demand is in aggregate for the quarter. You really won't see a strong reaction to weak auction...

    BrutDOT

If you route to the floor via DOT, the charges via most major brokers are .0004 non-billable, .0090 billable. (this for NYSE and AMEX) That charge would be passes on to you, the consumer, in a pass through pricing model, yes. Lime Brokerage is a pass through pricing model where all...

    ECN Rebates

you have to check with your broker to see what the passthroughs are per ECN, and how transparent those are as well. So many traders take what their broker says at face value, not even knowing what the proper rebates SHOULD be. Basically, rebate or full pass through models will always be better...

The importance of 'ping' - latency/connection speed in trading.

latency is a funny thing; you need some slow down to attract bids and offers, but I would think that over all, the fastest ping times but also the best in breed speeds of some of the automated/high volume brokers would be the best combination. I think traders get caught up in single ping...

    10-yr rollover

there is no "Rule"...there is a reason analysts and floor brokers monitor spreads. A key is to keep an eye on open interest in both contracts, it's best to go with the "money"...the smarter crowd keeps a good eye on when the roll is best, and most of the big players roll tons at once, you...

What will happen to the Eurodollars when the Fed Rests

you need to look at all the contracts of the ED curve vs the treasury curve. Fronts and reds give a good indication of fed policy, but a more indicative contract is the FF contract for the short term. The ED curve will take the shapeof the treasury curve - becuase it really is 3 month segments...

    Non-Self clearing fims

I'd say there is a variety of ways they can and do make money. They can provide the technology, or the "pipes" for straight market and ECN access. They also can provide other things like algos, smart routers, or research; or execution services....they make their money on volume, primarily.
